Well, It is only a week away from our
Northern Vermont Tour. For those of you joining in on this weekend event, I hope that you are all prepared and that you will have a nice ride up here. I just want everyone to have fun and to enjoy your visit while your in Northern Vermont. It should be a good time for all!
Also, for anyone that might want to join us at the last minute, the manager at the Quality Inn in Colchester Called me and said if anyone still wants to book a room the rate will be the group discount rate of
$99.00 per night. So thats good news for anyone wanting to join us late and needing a place to stay.
I did some searching to find a few links that I thought might be of interest to highlight some of the areas that we will be visiting on our ride to the North East Kingdom next Saturday. I also included a couple links of the Burlington area as well. Enjoy!
Crystal Lake is a beautiful lake in Barton Vermont. I take my family here now and then during the summer to go swimming. I like this lake because the water is very clean and refreshing. Crystal lake state park has a nice beach front overlooking the lake, with a beachhouse and snack bar, picnic area for it's visiters to enjoy. We will not be stopping here on our trip, but we will be driving along it's shoreline when were heading south.

Lake Willoughby is one of my favorite lakes in Vermont that I visit often. This is a beautiful lake in Westmore Vermont offering scenic views. We will be stopping here at some point to take pictures and take a break at the north shore parking lot in front of the lake.
There is a myth about this lake - A legend stated that Lake Willoughby had an underground aquifer that fed Crystal lake - that an object (or drowning victim) lost in Lake Willoughby would turn up eventually in Crystal Lake. Lake Willoughby by the way is seven miles from Crystal Lake. What I have heard myself about this myth, is a team of horses was crossing the frozen Lake Willoughby during the winter and they broke through the ice. In the spring when the waters thawed, they were found in Crystal lake. Myth or truth? Who knows. This myth has been debunked by geologists.

Lake Seymour in Morgan Vermont is another very nice lake out in the North East Kingdom. I'm not sure if we will have time to stop by here or not on our road trip. It is a little off course on our way to Newport. I did however find this link with some nice pictures of the lake and the area that I thought you might enjoy. I go snowmobiling in this area many times during the winter months.

Lake Memphremagog is a beautiful lake that stretches between Newport Vermont in the US and north into Quebec Canada and ends at the city of Magog, where this years spyderfest was held. We will be stopping here for our afternoon lunch. I hope the weather is nice so that we can eat out on the terrace overlooking the lake.

While were at our hotel in
Colchester some of you may want to visit the
Burlington area if you have some time. The Burlington waterfront is a nice place to visit, especially at night during the sunset.
