• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Nolan / BRP Hybrid Helmet??

Does anyone have the Nolan N43 Trilogy helmet? I'm in the market for a new helmet style. I'm coming off a full face sport bike style and looking for more comfortable protection but want to have some wind protection on long trips/highways. I've been looking at BRP's Hybrid but I came across the Nolan as well as and is much cheaper. Anyone have any feedback/experience on either brand? Comfort, quality, etc...??? Maybe there is a better brand that I'm not aware of yet? Thanks

I have two of the the N-43 and like them a lot for hot summer days riding.

I also have 2 N-com 103's. They are also good helmets and not priced to crazy. Nolan helmets have their own add-on blue tooth systems that fit flush with the helmet.

I have Cardo 2's attached to mine.

I have used Nolan helmets exclusively for the last 5 years or so--I get new ones every couple years.

Yes, there is indeed a better brand. Several, in fact. Look at Shoei, Arai, Schuberth, and the higher-end Bells and Sharks. In race helmets, Suomy is a better brand as well.

When cost is considered, I find Scorpion to be of better construction for the same amount of money spent.

That being said, none of the above make a true modular helmet such as the N43, with the exception of the Schuberth that is almost impossible to find in the US.

If by chance you would consider a flip-up style, then look at the Shoei Multitech, which is the best f-u at this time (at over $400, it better be). A great bargain in a f-u right now is the AVG Miglia on sale at the Dennis Kirk website. We just purchased one for my wife, and she loves it. At just a hair over $100, is by far the best buy in a flip-up (didn't want to write "f-u" again) out there.

You can read reviews on all of these at the webbikeworld site. If you want to read their review of the N43, you have to look at the review for the N43 "Air" first, and then look at the Trilogy addendum. The Air version is not sold in the US, but a good bit of the review will still apply to the US version.

By the way, if you want one of the best full-face helmets around at a great price, the Cycle Gear website had one version of the Shoei RF-1100 w/graphics for about $319, which is an unbelieveable price. If I didn't already have a Shoei Quest, I would have jumped on this one. Also, if last years model called the RF-1000 would suit you, Dennis Kirk has them on sale for about $208. There is no better $200 helmet on the planet.

Lastly, we do have experience with one Nolan helmet. It belongs to the S.I.L. None of us were impressed with it's build quality. They are looking for it's replacement as we write.......

we use the GIVI/BRP X.01 since three years / 15.000 mls .. and would buy it once again - low weight - easy to transform - not so noisy than my old flip-up on higher speeds .. the shield is larger than all my old helmets ..
was falling down several times - but all the mechanical parts are still perfect - the price of the GIVI Version is here cheaper than the BRP-Version ( i use their bluetooth)

Scorpion helmets are very well made and comfortable. I may be wrong but I think that the Scorpion is a lower priced line made by a subsidiary of SHOEI

Amazon.com's reviews are varied and will give you a pretty good spread of opinions. One of the reviewers says the chin guard is too close and venting isn't as good as it should be... anyway, you might check amazon out for their reviews
