Have a question for thems in the know! I have a 2011 RT-S SM5 with about 2500 miles on it. Oil level as checked via the manual protocol is bang on, the dealer completed the 600 mile service and of course it is not due yet for any additional service.
When it has sat for 2-3 days and I first start it the motor is noisy. Kinda sounds like is is "dry starting" on the top end with no oil to lubricate. It goes away quickly (3-5 seconds) but if it sits for a couple days that first start it will do it again. If it is started on the same day after it has run, be it hot or cold no noise sounds perfect.
My BRP ATV (2009 Outlander 800 Rotax V-Twin) was similar but not as noisy as the Spyder. Is this typical of a Rotax motor or should I be concerned? Does the Rotax drain oil out of the top end differently then other V Twins leading to this noise or dry start? Do others experience similar motor noise? It has lots of warranty of course so not "really" worried but just like some feedback!
Appreciate the thoughts in Advance:thumbup:
