• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

No oil on the stick

Not only does the engine have to be at normal running temp but you also have to shut it off then back on for 30 seconds to clear the oil pump. You are checking the tank not the engine. It would help if you read the owners manual. :read:

No; it isn't...
With my 998, it was normally a touch over $115.00
The 1330 stretches it to just over $135.00 (More oil)
I'm not sure if this was a break-in service or not; they DO run a bit higher...

My manual states at least 30 seconds, which means I could run it longer, let's say for another 5 minutes or maybe more. If that's the case, I don't see the difference with letting the spyder continue to run after a ride, park it, pull the panel, shut it off, and check the oil.

3. With the engine at normal operating
temperature, start engine and
let it run at idle for at least 30 seconds.
4. Stop the engine.

Can't say i agree with any above, default answer read owners manual! & always have a spare qt handy! G'luck

If the oil read that low at 159 miles, I'm wondering where it read right after the oil change. The 998 goes through a lot of oil, but not 3 plus quarts in 159 miles.
As for cost, that depends on what the dealer gets an hour for service. I've seen anywhere from $130 to $360 for an oil change.

Got this fromoperating tempP certified tech.

Start engine, let idle until cooling fan comes on, continue idle until cooling fan comes on a second time. Shut down and check oil.

I did a comparison of this procedure and driving for half hour then checking oil. Both gave same reading.

I agree. Fan comes on got to be at operating temp. Why must we fill to full mark. Fill to it's in safe range.
5 bars on temp is operating temp. JMO
