• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I heard about this a few years ago, my brother had the tires on his Sportrak filled with nitrogen at the urging of his service department. Cost a pretty penny :yikes:. I was not impressed by the arguments for it. The air we breath is almost 80% nitrogen. Nitrogen is a smaller molecule than Oxygen you would assume that is would find its way out of a tire with less trouble than Oxygen. As far as I can tell the only advantage to pure nitrogen in your tires would accrue to the guy selling you the Nitrogen.

Really, the best way to get better gas mileage on the Spyder is by riding slower and more conservatively.

Of course, if you want better gas mileage, buy a Prius-- and instead ride the Spyder like you stole it! :doorag:
 
I use regular air in my tires but I love Nitrous Oxide: It makes me feel funny at the dentists office. :roflblack:

Personally I'm all about the Helium...:roflblack:
Too many years ago in a faraway land...I went to a college where they advertised the parties by the number of "tanks" that they'd have there... They'd have enough nitrous in the air that a contact high was impossible to avoid! :shocked:
 
Has anyone converted their SpYder tires to nitrogen instead of air? Thought might be a great thing. Bob

If my memory serves me right Military and Commercial Airlines use nitrogen in a/c tires due to it being more
stable at altitude and temp. changes less moisture and less freezing, Not practicle $$ for Auto and Motorcycles....

Had it in my three tires for a good while. Maintains the pressure very well. I went to it primarily because it is/was a pain in the butt to check the rear tire. NASCAR can't be wrong and Honda put the stuff in tires on a couple of new cars I bought. I'm a satisfied nitrogen customer.

Costco fill Nitrogen for free

gives steady pressure over wider temps (Boyle's Law still applies, however).
 
Have it in new tires on Silverado. Not in new tires on Impala. Couple reasons for N2 use, no moisture/water in tires as long as a minimum 80% N2 is used reducing tire degradation. N2 molecules are larger so less migration/loss through the rubber. No major pressure loss with extreme cold weather. These are minimal reasons, so use would be up to you. Cost- It can be expensive depending on the dealer, shouldn't be more than about $5.00 per tire, though some charge as much as $30.00. Don't let the dealer tell you all you have to do is bleed the air out and fill with N2. The correct procedure is to fill and purge a minimum of three times to get the correct levels. And some dealers will charge you to top off the tire as needed. Will I do it again, probably not. One side note- last week we had a rapid drop in temperature, about 20F in one day. This tripped the tire sensors on my work truck. Didn't do it on my Silverado. N2 displaces O2. That's why it's used on aircraft fire suppression systems. Class dismissed :roflblack:
