• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Nhtsa and 2013 Can Am recall no such thing is going on.

Nhtsa 2013 Can Am recall

Not until I can ride mine with confidence. I did not pay $25k for a fireball. What ever they did they obviously are hotter and burning or melting. This is BRP's fault and they sold it to me. They either need to make me feel safe or buy it back from as far as I am concerned.
I am with you. If we can't safely use this product in the manner that we purchased it for than we should get our full purchase price returned. This whole deal is utterly ridiculous. This seems to be a poor design that places the owner/operator in a dangerous situation and that is not acceptable.

I wonder why can't BRP do the right thing and do a voluntary recall for all 2013 Spyder RT's and ST's like they did with the RT ball joint issue? Why do they have to wait for the NHTSA? If there is a fix for this issue then let's get it done. Could our friendly BRP spoke's person let us know why? I've got over 8000 miles on my 2013 RT-Ltd. I need to check the master cylinder to see if I have the issue.

Right now, in Iowa, we've got perfect weather to ride. I'd hate to have to shut things down while BRP and the NHTSA drag their feet.

The ball joint thing wasn't a recall. It was a warranty campaign. Recalls address serious safety issues and in the US have to be approved by the NHTSA. They are usually voluntary, meaning intiiated by the manufacturer. The NHTSA does not comment on recalls pending approval...only those that have been issued. Everyone needs to be patient. Things will fall into place soon.

It is interesting how this has developed. With the DPS recall, the US recall was the first to be approved. The Canadian and European customers had the same concerns. Their recalls followed shortly...within a few weeks. The approval process, getting the owners notified by letter, notifying dealers, and getting the remediation parts to the dealers takes some time, no matter where you live. Some actions take longer than others.

These Spyders have been on the road since the beginning of the year. I am not downplaying the seriousness of this situation, but it isn't any worse than it has been in the eight previous months that owners have been riding their 2013's. Give the wheels of bureaucracy time to turn. If you are uncomfortable riding your Spyder since learning about this, please park it for a while, and let your dealer know you have done so, pending repairs. If you choose to continue to ride, it would be a good idea to inspect your master cylinder or have your dealer do it. If it is damaged, the Spyder should be parked until it is repaired.

I'd suggest it is getting worse for exactly that reason. The master cylinders are being exposed to excessive heat every time the Spyder is ridden . . . and they aren't magically healing themselves. Each 2013 master cylinder is getting closer to a leak with each overheating. The NTHSA needs to treat this as a pending crisis that can have catastrophic results, rather than business as usual. JMHO

mine did not show signs of over heating and melting the master cylinder until 5,000 miles...changed roll over valve...purge valve...did not make a change....replaced master cylinder in July

You can panic...and have your Spyder repaired in a week or two. Or you can be patient...and have your Spyder repaired in a week or two. Your choice. All the outrage in the world will not move the wheels of industry and government one second faster. JMHO

I haven't panicked. Do you know for a fact that the NTHSA will approve a recall in a week or two? I also don't see any "outrage" in a single one of my posts. In the mean time, a toy I paid $26,000 for, just three months ago is sitting in my garage, and I don't know if it is safe for me to ride it, or not. JMHO that people in this situation have a right to discuss their dismay over what appears to be a slow response from NTHSA to something that could, very easily, kill or seriously injure someone, at worst, or result it the total destruction of their ride, without being chastised by someone who does not have a Spyder that is effected, according to their signature. JMHO

You do have the right to discuss it. Nobody ever said you did not...and nobody chastised you in the least. Your posts do give the impression of worry and outrage. If that is not the case, I apologize for reading you wrong. The bottom line here is that all the words in the world aren't going to change how fast this thing moves. Whether any owner cares for it or not, they just have to wait until things fall into place. It is unfortunate, but it is a fact of life.

Squeaky wheels do get greased. As a result of the original post, several folks have filed complaints with NTHSA and I've sent information about the Canadian recall to my Senators and my Representative, asking why a situation that could result in death is not being responded to more quickly by the NTHSA. If others do the same and NTSHA starts hearing from Capitol Hill, this recall will, suddenly, be one of their top issues.

make sure you make a lot more noise. Afterall we are dealing with a government that has not given its employees a raise for three years. How dedicated would you be if you worked for someone like that? Talk about falling behind inflation! So you must "squee" louder.
