• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I am picking up my 2012 RT Limited next Monday and I am going to add Kewlmetal highway pegs. I have read about getting a hot foot on the right side. I have heard there is a heat shield. Where do you get them or some info if you have to fab them?

Teddy & I would like to say CONGRATS & Welcome to the SpyderHood

On the SpyderLovers home page, go to the SpyderPops vendor site. Harvey offers a SC20120423-224011.jpgSC20120423-223921.jpgheat shield for the RT & it works really well. BTW, :congrats: & :welcome:

No info on the heat shield but congrats on the RT Limited and welcome to a fellow west Texan.

:welcome: Before you order a shield for your foot; I'd suggest riding the RT a bit to see if it's actually an issue for you. Texas is just a bit warmer than where I am,

but everybody has their own levels of tolerance, so check it out first.

Being a diabetic I have to be very careful of the feet.

I have the Spyderpops block off shield and converter shields, makes a big difference. I was also very impressed with the service, I immediately received an e-mail with a tracking number attached and the parts arrived fast. I will buy my Possum Pusher from Spyderpops due to the way he does business.

Where in West Texas are you?

I'm in Bronte. We ride a 2010 base RT. Maybe we can get together sometime for a ride or something to eat. It's not that far from here to Andrews. Be nice to meet another Spyder rider. There are not very many around here.

Ornerydog, let us know if you should happen to get out this way. We've been trying to plan a trip to Arkansas and enjoy some of those beautiful roads, just haven't gotten it done yet.

Let me learn to ride this thing and I'm up to meet somewhere. Road the Mena, AR area about 2 weeks ago (on my 2 wheeler) it was great except for the dense fog on the parkway. We had a great time though.

47 years as a Type One here... I understand your concerns fully! Lack of feeling can be even worse than being uncomfortable due to any heat issues... Contact SpyderPops A.S.A.P.
What meds are you on??
I'm using a Medtronic pump and Novolog... Hate the Novolog and am trying to get my RX folks to pop for Humalog instead...

I'm also on a pump w/Novolog but like it much better then when I was on Humalog, don't have any bubbles with Novolog.

I just don't like the response time of Novolog...It reacts too slowly for me! :gaah: Humalog hits quick and is gone. If my BG levels were high and I bolused for it; I could literally feel it dropping in about 15 minutes. Within an hour it'd be working fullbore, and be done in about 3 hours. Novolog doesn't even START to work until about 2 hours has passed and then it just hangs on forever... I find myself running 210... and then 45 eight hours later! It's tough to keep it on an even keel...
So if you've got any advice for me about Novolog; I'm all ears!

I guess that since I'm an insulin dependent Type2 I don't have a problem with the lag time and not fighting bubbles when changing my set, which I have to do every 2 days(TDD 135-150u/day)is wonderful , it's a YMMV thing.

You ARE taking a lot of insulin... I thought that I read about some sort of supplemental medication that helped reduce the amount of insulin that "ID2s" needed to take...I'll see if I can found out what it was that I read... :opps:

Since we are talking all things diabetic; I am also a type 2 insulin dependent (25 yrs)... do between 80/90 (injectable) units of Lantus along with the orals metphomin and starlix.. last three A1Cs averaged 6.4, so that combo of orals and injectable works for me. Docs have never talked about a pump for me..

Now back to Spyders... I have SpyderPops block off and cat shields, just haven't installed them yet but, with the way the summer is stacking up so far, it won't be long before I have to get them on or fry my feet...

I have been Type 1 Diabetic for 47 years now insulin dependant taking 2 shots a day at this time. A1C good and I try to watch for all the complications that can occure. Even taking care of yourself you never know. Back to riding, we have already had temps above 100 so I plan on trying to keep the temp on my feet as low as possible....maybe mount 2 ice chests in place of the pegs? LOL
