Hello fellow Spyder Ryders!!

I recently purchased my first Spyder a couple of weeks ago and it's been raining here so much that I've only been able to ryde one day. The sun is supposed to shine starting Sunday and I can hardly wait to take her out and stretch her legs.

In reading other posts, it sounds like my first mod should be lights. I already have a riser block, but may need more lift. I need to ride more to determine if I need more handle bar adjusting.

I have a couple of questions:
1) What type of gas do you put in your Spyder? My dealer told me 91, but the owner's manual says 87 or higher. I'm thinking I might get better gas mileage with 87.
2) Does anyone make an 'easy clutch' for the Spyder? I had one on my Harley and it made sitting in traffic and holding the clutch so much easier.

Lights are always a good mod. I recommend the aftermarket risers, too. There are several brands and styles available. Make sure whatever you select will work with the BRP 1" riser, or what ever you already have. Beyond that, things depend on your tastes, comfort, and riding preferences. There is a lot to choose from. Of course you can ride very happily forever with no mods at all.....but where's the fun in that?

The RS model will take regular gas. You do get better mileage with regular gas (when it is all gasoline). With ethanol blends, though, all bets are off, and anything is possible. The Spyder has a built-in vacuum clutch assist. It also has an adjustable clutch lever, if you haven't already found it. No aftermarket clutch accesories available beyond that. Nancy just bought a hand exerciser, and built up her hand a bit. The clutch-assist took care of the rest. (added 3/26/11)

:welcome: welcome and enjoy your ride. As for you clutch, I have a simple recommendation that worked for me. Rotate the clutch so it is in a more comfortable position for you. That has made a world of difference for me, it doesn't seem as stiff. It is all about the angle and geometry. Then if it that still doesn't help, I wish you well in your search for an easy clutch. This was all I needed to do though, and oh yeah, you can adjust your clutch regarding how far the pull is. Make sure it is set for the least amount and that will help too.

Mods are a very personal thing. Extra lights are always good for added visibility, safety, and sometimes just showing off.

I would recommend you ryde your Spyder the way it is for a while before deciding on things like the risers, a different seat, floorboards, and so on. These are the comfort items, and what might work well for someone else may not work nearly as well for you. I have the 1" BRP Riser only and it works perfectly fine for me. My wife has the 1" Riser, plus the 3" ESI Risers and I do not like the way it positions me on her Spyder at all. It is best to ryde it and find out what is not comfortable for you, and then start changing those things first.

:welcome::congrats: :agree: with others on here. Ride it a while before you decide what to add/do. Talk to other :spyder2: owners and check out other mods on here. I, personally, think the best possible mod is the TriLec front fender (duo color) light and rear brake taillight should be first. Easy to install and increases vivisibly a big percent. :clapolice say they are great looking. Just be careful about single colors and the law.

Evoluzione cyclesports sells a billet clutch slave cylinder that is supposed to reduce the tension considerably and i see one on Ebay for $90, welcome to Spyderlovers!
