• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Newbie here - 2013 STS with whining noise?

Just got a 2013 sts and I’m hearing a whining noise, took off the left plastic and disconnected what looked like the mass airflow sensor and it stopped. Turned the key to the on position and it started making noise again. Is this normal or is something causing it to somehow have power to it constantly?

Hi Demar, welcome to the wonderful world of Spyders, SpyderLovers, and the Miles of Smiles you have to look forward to!

That whining noise after you shut down is normal and is meant to be there! It can last for 30-40 minutes after shut-down; it's actually a servo holding the butterfly closed in the air intake. I believe it was extended out to last that long after a few Spyders had 'engine run-on' &/or burning issues - as in, call the fire brigade type burning issues! So you REALLY DO want it to be making that noise!

Hello and welcome to the SL forums Demar1230. Hope you enjoy your time here, lots of good information in all the different areas. Peter may be right about the noise. 2013 had some changes made. maybe someone else will chime in but look around until then, try the search and add the year 2013.

Had the same question on mine 2014 also. This is a great format for getting your questions answered.
