• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New york bike show

MOSESS

New member
Over the years I have attended many shows and this year was vey telling, I will start by saying I had a good time , spent time with my son along with meeting several new members to the forum, My son decided to get a F3, I am very happy for him. Now my observation on the show itself. I happen to know several vendors and what they are saying is that the fees are killing them and the traffic is not there. BMW did a great job on there display along with Yamaha TKM and Harley. the traffic was light for a Saturday and this is a norm for the north east. that's a scary situation for the local vendors in the long run, In jersey I have seen a few shops close in recent years. I have heard also how manufactures don't want to work with vendors.. to what end do our sport continue to grow. ill leave it hear. One of the issues I heard at the show was the cost from local 3 , now I am a union guy to the core but when I heard the amount of complaints I was in total agreement with doing away with unions . the price of doing business was to great for the little guy. We need the little guy ,I always thought that the little guy is want created motorcycling at its best, great ideas great products . a zest for life. if fees are so crazy that these guy cant show there ideas then we all lose. just a thought....

We were surprised at how light it was too, but we were there fairly early. Seemed like as we were leaving there were quite a few people coming in.
The vendor area is honestly a joke. How many patches, novelty helmets, and floor cleaners do they think people need?
Progressive must feel it's bringing in a decent crowd because they brought back the DC show for this year.

The Chicago show is not till February but I would like to see parts/swap meet stuff at these shows. I agree patches, jackets, and T-Shirts are getting old..But still welcome in moderation.

I don't like is the ones selling the stuff that suppose to fill in the scratches on your glasses. they are a PIA and doesn't really do anything for the glasses.

 Where are the pictures??
Was that stunningly Beautiful lady still at the Indian Display, and taking pictures??

With what is being charged to vendors and manufacturers. Why do they have to charge a fee to go in? Cut the fee, bring in lots more people. :dontknow: Just my take on it. Also years ago, manufacturers gave out free tickets. Now? Just a discount. :dontknow: Tom :spyder:

This is happening everywhere at the floor covering trade show in vegas my rep's tell me that there is a union guy at the door and if they carry in a sample book from there car they have to let the union guy pack it to the booth or else the union could shut down all the work and the show will stop so even though the rep's are required to be there they can't put displays together which they are used to doing everyday for there dealers the union guys have to do it and of course it takes longer because it is the first time for them ,yes these shows are expensive for the manufacturer

A sign of the times for sure. The show put on by locals in April or so keeps getting fewer and fewer vendors. One dealer has dropped the :spyder2: line up and the remaining dealer no longer attends. And most of it is about the money. They also sell the Kawasaki and Suzuki line ups. Will have to see what happens this year.

Unions

I am all for the unions but if its going to cost vendors so much many that they stay home ,I think the unions have to rethink what they are charging and or what the vendors cant do . There is no way I would have some one put up my display and damage it and then walk away like its okay, I have been apart of a union for years and for the first time I am really starting to question there need at this point. I came over on the ferry and that was a great ride then the bus to the convention center. how many of you used the ferry.
