There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Got this from Spyder114. He really likes it. :doorag:

Well I found the perfect windshield. Here are the specs:
" Deep, aerodynamic curve, Rifle windshield is spaced away from the airing allowing a controlled amount of air in behind the windshield, across the full width of the windshield. This increases the envelope of protection , while reducing back pressure.
(2) Two Versions: One is compatible with stock risers, the other compatible with 3" and 4" aftermarket risers.

(3) Three heights: Approx, 14", 15 1/2" and 17" measured vertically above ignition switch. 9", 10-1/2" and 12' taller than OEM windshield. 6", 7-1/2, and 9" over the OEM Touring version.
Width: 23" at the widest point, measured straight-line. 7" wider than OEM versions.
Price $199 Clear, $219 Tint, $35 more for custom sizes.

Lamont,
I saw a demo of a windshield from F4customs, it has a coating on it that will not scratch, even rubbing steel wool on it does not scratch it.
They do not currently make Spyder shields, but maybe some pressure from owner groups might encourage them to think more about it. I emailed them and they answered pretty quick, even though the answer was not yet for Spyder windshields.

Just a thought,
Wes

thats is a strange lookin windshield whats up with those side thingys :) ?

I'm guessing that's the one for the stock handlebars/riser ... clearance for the bars. I'm also guessing that the ones for pullback risers don't have those cut-outs.

.

That looks kind of interesting. I've bought two Cal-Sci windshields and am pleased with them, but then again, these are the first two real windshields I've ever bought for a bike before so what do I know?

Today was a bit windy and the X-LG Cal-Sci was doing a pretty good job going into the wind but side winds would make some noise and move my helmet around a bit.

I wonder if there is a perfect windshield out there? I guess I still haven't found what I'm looking for.

Well, that's certainly interesting. I was wondering when somebody was going to space the shield up off the fairing & now I know. :)

Ok. so at this point what is the best quality windshield that is made of certified DOT approved plastics?
"Industries 7" that we have to wait for to get any kind of real review
Cal Sci, etc...

Unfortunately it's not that simple. Beyond the basic quality of build that is. What works for me may be horrible for you. Lots of factors involved- arm length, body length, how aggressively you sit on the bike, height/width of the shield etc.

Strangely, on my Strom the least expensive aftermarket shield (Givi) worked as well as any other, once I put the adjustable bracket on it.

Rifle Windshield after some good miles.

Got this from Spyder114. He really likes it.

I've put some miles on the new windshield. No wind on helmet and no cross wind. The key I believe is that the windshield is up off the faring about an inch. So the wind seams the flow better over the windshield. I've had three windshields and this is far and away the BEST:yes::yes::yes: If you could test one you'd be sold. Also I'm sure they would allow it to be returned if you did not like. But I'm sure you would. The staff members there are great and have been making windshields for a long time. Rifle Faring makes very good products. Spyder114

" So glad I got it."

Thanks for posting this Lamont. I have had Rifle screens in the past for my Kawi Concours, and they are an excellent product. If I didn't have a BRP Ultra Touring windshield on order, I would probably take a serious look at this one.

I just ordered one of these, a custom size 21" over ignition. I've got my SE5 set up as a cruiser with floorboards and Corbin seat (so I'm sitting up pretty straight), and the Calsci 14" windshield is way too small. I won't get it for a couple weeks, but I hope it does the trick.
