New Trunk Rack Installed

I just installed this Value Accessories chrome trunk rack today. Looks really good, I think. Not to big and overpowering. Yet it's plenty big enough to hold a medium sized storage bag. Also I wanted one that would not hide my Custom Dynamics top brake light from cars behind me - even when the rack was being used.

This is a bit expensive but very well made. Chrome rack and deflector; bolts on with chrome hex-head bolts, lock nuts, and chrome braces inside the trunk lid (between the two bolts on both sides) for extra strength. They also provide plastic lipped shims for the 4 holes you drill in your trunk lid.

There are thin strips of rubber gripping tape on the sides, which take the weight off the bolts when using the rack. I added some 3M automotive molding tape under the top lip for extra strength.

Looks good but I'd be curious as to the weight limit that the rack has. It says nothing about the limit and really should without causing some damage to the Tupperware.

I had the same thought before I bought it. But once I saw it, I wasn't too concerned. It's extremely sturdy, and the rubberized tape in the "bolt area" will take weight off the bolts, and therefore stress off the bolt holes. I also stuck some rubberized 3M automotive molding tape under the top lip for the same reason. The weight will be will distributed across the entire top of the trunk lid. They also provided plastic sleeves to cushion the holes as well. I think it should hold as much weight, or more, as any trunk rack made for the RT. Shouldn't really be putting too much weight on top of the truck lid, anyway.

FYI, rack & touring cover issue

Rack mounted on truck prevents the touring cover from fitting.

I clicked on the link, but the result was a "web page not found" message. Have they removed it from their site? Does anyone else carry it? I have a high mount light on the way and want a rack that will clear it.

Trunk rack

How far up does the lid go? How much crunch room is there? If you have a passenger how hard is it to get the trunk lid high enough to get what ever it is you want out of the trunk?
