• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New trailer!

Finally after a year and 4 months I finally got the trailer for the RT. But of course when I went to put in the key barrel it pulled out half way when I went to remove the key and now is stuck in the lock position! There goes the excitement I had. Thinking of drilling it out, hope it doesn't hurt anything in where it sits. Saw you can get a replacement barrel with keys in the Can Am accessories area. I know what I'm doing tomorrow!

I am a professional locksmith. This is something you can do no problem, just be careful and do not bull your way through it. Bigger and more power is not the way to go, you want to surgically remove it. You want to remove the wafers and any retainer that might be in the way of removing it. Just take your time and go slow and you will not damage anything else.

I am waiting for a replacement lock and the black plastic piece with the latches to come in at my dealer. This is the second time my lock pulled out the first time we only had the lock cylinder replaced. I am hoping that replacing the whole works will fix the problem. It seems that the cylinder is a tiny bit longer than the hole that it is inserted in. Have your dealer order and replace yours under warranty.

Yes, I agree, have your dealer replace it. I just went through a similar problem with my new trailer. It ended up being the plastic piece that the cylinder slides in to. They said it was not long enough to accommodate the cylinder. The dealer ordered and installed everything at no charge.

Good luck,

I went through this twice with my wife's trailer. The first time I had to have a locksmith drill it out and the second time it went back to the dealer. (the first time we had no choice as my wife's helmet was locked in the trailer and we were on a trip).

Turns out the barrel was not inserted into the lock far enough and all I had to do was to push it in farther to seat it in place.

After we drilled it out I bought another barrel, pushed it in and it did the same thing. It wasn't until the dealer took off the front piece cover, had a tech crawl inside and release the lock that we discovered the barrel just hadn't seated properly.

I would check that out first.

I put the key into the barrel then took some vice grips and twisted it out. (gripping the barrel, not the key) Wooo Hooo! The back tab on the barrel snapped off and all the tumblers were spared. Well, I put the barrel back in and when in the lock position it works! Tried to pull out and it wouldn't budge. Unlocked it's a little looser but stays put. Just going to use it this way for awhile until I really have to replace it totally. Thank you all for your responses!

Just remember that if it pulls out and it is locked you won't be able to get at your stuff. Put vise grips in your trunk just in case.

Let your dealer do it under warranty! If you have to replace it, they may be able to replace all locks so the keys match all the way through.
