• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New to the Spyder World

:welcome: as one other person said the leg bend is still in the croch rocket stile i know some people have shorter legs which wouldnt make too much difference, but if your insem is long like mine 32 inch you wont like the way your leg has to bend on the rs ,which i got ,because i liked the look so much, but now im longing for an rt.ive had 51 motorcycles and now older i nedded three wheels.and there right about you not having a motorcycle ,will be easer to get used to,i had a hell of a time because riding motorcycles is much different, than a spyder.try them out and then decide have fun.:spyder:im hoping for an rt soon.

Thank you for all the response I have recieved. CyncySpyder I agree with you 100% about the dealer in Florence. I was out there a couple of weeks ago and I don't know it just did not seem like a friendly place. So I called up to Middletown Cycles and have talked to Aaron and told him what I was looking for. He took down all my info and told me he would give me a call when he got some used Spyders in. He seem very friendly. I may take a trip up there in the next few weekends to meet him personally.

Hi Jeff, and welcome to the premier place to get questions answered and because we have such a diverse group you will discover other options available to you. I know I have learned so much from everyone here. I like you had not ridden motorcycles before. I too took the motorcycle safety course and found it invaluable. Yes I got my motorcycle license even though it was not a requirement to have in California.

I agree with most of what has been said it peoples comments here. With no prior motorcycle experience you will actually have a quicker learning curve. No hand brake issues, and you won't have to unlearn counter steering.:D

Demo both and then decide for yourself. When I was choosing which bike to get it was never a question for me about choosing a sport or touring bike. I went for which one visually appealed to me more. I had always wanted a GoldWing when I was in my 20's and the bike I ended up with seemed the closest to that. Come to find out many here think the sport model is more to their liking. I think it is great that we have a choice. Your choice of the SE5 over the SM5 will make it a breeze and allow you to enjoy the ride since manual shift is not engrained in your brain from years of riding. Just be prepared for the permanent grin when ever your out riding.

:welcome:Drive them both and see what you like. For me I hated the RS
Then bought a RT/S Se5 without driving one but I knew what I Wanted
I don't mind shifting but at my age I am getting lazy.

Hello All, My name is Jeff and I am new to this forum. I am 42 years old and have never ridden a motorcycle in my life. I have always wanted to learn but never did. But when I first saw the Spyder Roadster I knew that I had to have one and for the past year or so I have been putting money away so that when I purchase one I won’t have to take such a hard hit. I just got my motorcycle permit and have signed up for a motorcycle safety course. I am still undecided on whether I am going with an RS or an RT. The one thing I do know for sure is that I want one with the Semi-Automatic trans. I hope to learn a lot on this forum and hope to make some life long friends on here also. I can’t wait till I get my Spyder and get out and enjoy the open road.:2thumbs:

First of all :welcome: I had never ridden a motorcycle either am 46 got my motorcycle liscence last summer at first I wanted to get an RS-S SE5 Then my wife became intersested in riding as passenger. After test riding the RS did not fit us we both were not comfortable on the bike so the RTs fit us both perfect , long story short we bought a 2010 RTS SE5 at the end of 2010 riding season and take delivery of it in 2 weeks.

So before you decide which one is right for you take a test ride and you will know which one is right for you:thumbup:
