• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New to the Spyder and have a couple questions

Hello! I recently bought my girlfriend a 2009 Can Am SE5 and thus far she loves it. Now she don't have to ride on the back of my bike and she loves the independence. There are two things she is really wanting. First is risers, which we have elected to use the Kewl Metal risers, the second is a throttle lock. This is where I need some advice.

What throttle locks are you using and what is your feedback?

Thanks

KP

Choices choices..!!

Welcome to both the spyder world and this awesome site. You can check with our vendors on the home page and search the site as well. Not fond of any of the lock systems I use the cramp buster/palm cruise. She could try it for a few bucks while you decide...

:welcome: We had one of those. We put 4" risers--custom made because there were not after market ones at the time. They gave a nice sitting up riding position. You choice of KM ones is pretty much right on.

Also used a Cramp Buster for those longer trips. Easy on, easy off, about $10. Never felt the need for cruise on the RS--but I do like it now that I have it on the RT's.

Enjoy your new ride. That is a nice machine.

ThrottleMeister - although I sure am looking forward to having actual cruise control on my next bike/trike.

Thought I would share.

This is the one I picked up for my girlfriend. 2009 with only 1700 and paid $7500.

(This is a pic from the Craigslist ad)

The throttle lock thing is a little odd and sometimes irritating if not riding alone (tring to adjust for other bikes) beyond giving the hand a break, they don't compensate obviously for hills or wind etc. Throttle mate is fairly cheap and discrete. There are aftermarket cruise controls out there(like audiovox), but in many/most cases they were ment more for vehicle interiors so some parts aren't weather proof, like the controls.

cruise

there's a thread somewhere on finding the "hidden" cruise control on the grip - but I don't know if this applies to your model. Worth checking out though.

Oh and tell her from me - the list of things she Absolutely Must Have (I call them AMH's) will grow and grow and grow ... Have Fun

I am guessing not...because the RT with cruise did not come out until the 2010 model year. If someone knows otherwise, please pipe in. Thanks.

EZ-RISERS

Hi Kenny,

Re: First is risers, which we have elected to use the Kewl Metal risers,

You might give these a look: 4 1/2" EZ Risers - cost $129.00 http://www.customdynamics.com/can_am...bar_Riser_Kits

Jerry Baumchen

:agree::agree::agree:.............There have been shipping issue with dealing with Kewl Metal products and I 'm sure the EZ-risers are less expensive ................jmho.......Mike

you were right. Tried to order from Kewl Metal, go the run around and then they finally email me and tell me they are discontinued. TERRIBLE Customer Service (or lack there of)

fly by wire

You're right guys, this Hidden Fix won't work on older models, pre-fly by wire throttle...
