• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New to the forum from Central Minnesota

Welcome MNBenny to the Club!

I'm an original owner on a '09 Phantom and never had any troubles worth mentioning. And yeah, they have awesomeness written all over them. :doorag:

By the way, do you know why the Phantom is the fastest Spyder?
Because they're in stealth mode. :ohyea:

:roflblack: that's funny! Hey i have a question to throw out there! I noticed that the earlier spyders did not come with fog lights...is there any after market stuff you can do an 08 or an 09 machine?

take care

As a former Minnesotan (Duluth), a :welcome: to you.

My second :spyder2: was a 2009 RS, SE5. It was trouble free and as far as I know is still running well.

Do your due diligence on the used unit (check with dealer to run the VIN and get all the service records, also communicate with the owner if possible.)

There are a few :spyder2:'s with issues out there (very few), but you don't want to end up with one of them.

Hi there akspyderman,

Thank you for the welcome! What made you want to move to Alaska? I was born in duluth, and my dad was with the Air guard in Duluth. What issues did the spyders have in those years any idea? That is one thing I will be sure to do is to ask for all the service records on that machine if any are available.

good advice for sure!

Work took me to Alaska. I stayed because I like the state. I do not believe there were any specific issues to the 2009. We had a computer crash at 1500 miles (about 3 weeks into ownership) and the dealer replaced it under warranty. Beyond that, the 2009 was trouble free.

Service records are available for all Spyders. The dealer just has to run the VIN.

Welcome

:welcome: to a great forum from a fellow MN. You may want to join a credit union as they tend to be easier to get a loan from and their rates are low. If you do get one before June 7th come join us on a ride. The nsxt MN ride is June 7th and sign in is from 9:00 to 10:00 am at Caswells in Mora with lunch in Tayler Falls.

Thank you everyone for your time,

I have exhausted all the ways possible to get a loan on a motorcycle, and with my crappy 520 or below credit score I don't think it will happen. I'm only a puny bus driver on top of it.

take care & Happy riding! :(

In due time

Hi MNbenny,

I was wanting to get a spyder back in 2012 was in a situation where I was unable to pull the trigger. Now just two short years later I'm in a 2014 RT-S and lovin it. Just be patient and it will happen for you if you wanted it bad enough. So don't give up!! Only have 300 miles on mine and it is a blast. Good luck to you!

:welcome: to this Awesome site, and don't be afraid to ask questions on this site, we are here to help.

I do not have a GS, but I have a 2012 RTS-SE5 and I love it. Deanna777
