• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hey All,

I too have recently come over to the Spyder from a Goldwing.
I actually purchased a local 2010 Spyder RTS that is posted on this forum. (thanks Jim)

http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/...010-Can-Am-Spyder-RTS-SM5-Premier-Edition-230

I have ridden it for 3 weeks now and I love it.

I actually held on to the wing because at first I wasn't sure. (wish I could keep both)
It felt at first like "I'm riding a 1000cc V-Twin 4 wheeler on the street"!

These are a few things expected, and I had to get used to:

Cruising at 4200 rpm's instead of 1800 rpm's. (inline 6 vs VTwin)
Downshifting for power. (I know... 1800cc vs 998cc)
Don't put your feet down (haven't done it but had to actually think about it )
need more air vents

Things I Like:

It is really comfortable
the V Twin sounds great with the 2 Bros. Can and Tip.
I don't miss holding up the Wing, especially 2 up
the electrically adjusted windshield is great
There's more but those seem to stand out

I rode the wing last weekend. It's for Sale now.

My RTS already has a few mods but I need to add a few things to.
There is a little play in the steering that I have to deal with very soon but everything else is just stuff I want to add.

See ya on the road....

My guess is the steering on your spyder is fine. Give yourself a little more time and I bet the play in the steering will disappear.

congratulations

I also have a 2010 RT, and love it. I have had 67,500 happy trouble free miles. This engine loves to rev learn to keep the rpms up, I run between 4500 and 6000 and don't shift until 6000. Steering is very quick and take some time to get used to. Ride and stay safe!

Have fun and enjoy. I love my 2010 RT. Just for information, You said, you had a wing. If you belong to GWRRA, they have trike courses that are great for learning things and count if you are in the levels program.

:congrats: on your RT. Heed the recommendations on higher rpm's. The engine is almost lugging at 4200. 3500 will actually damage the clutch mechanism. I never used 5th gear until I hit 60 or higher. Always kept the rpm's up. First gear through in town traffic is usual if you are doing about 30 mph.

36,500 trouble free miles before I traded on a new 2014.

Welcome..!! Welcome..!!

welcome to the spyder world and this awesome site. Congrats on your new ryde..:2thumbs: you will get used to it fast and see what all the hype is about. Enjoy the ryde and the smiles...:ohyea::ohyea:

I moved from a Honda ST1300 to a 2010 RT this spring....still getting used to the need for higher rpm's. Learning is FUN!

I'll try to keep it between 4500 & 6000 rpm. It does feel the happiest there. It's so different from the Goldwing.
