There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. I just got a 2016 RT Special Series and had a couple of questions.

1. In 1st gear there seems to be very little power and I need to jump to 2nd pretty quick. Do others find this happening?
2. Gas mileage. I have only gone thru a couple of tanks but it looks like I am getting about 28 MPG. I thought I would be getting more like 35 MPG. I have even tried using the ECO mode and following shift arrow but no difference. Does the mileage increase as it breaks in?
3. The stereo is not as good as my old 2012 not a big deal just an observation

Now the positive
1. The handling is so much better than my 2012 RTS with had the sway bar and adjustable shocks. I am not sure I even needs the shock stiffeners or sway bar.
2. Great ride much smoother than the 2012
3. The top end power is great, it really moves
4. Love the driver foot boards
5. Love the triple black, I get a lot of compliments
6. Very happy with the upgrade and cant wait to start the Farkles

At what rpm level are you shifting?
And what speeds are you running out on the 4-lane roads?

These factors affect your fuel economy the most. nojoke
Once you get used to the broad powerband of the 1330: it'll grow on you! :D

and congratulations on your 1330. I am soooo not mechanical, but I do ryde a mile or two on my Spyder (ave 20k annually) and as a Spyderlover I am automatically qualified to be "full of opinions"..:roflblack::roflblack:.
I have owned both a 2014 RTS and now a 2016 F3t. On your first ? I could easily "lay rubber" with both rydes in first gear.
? 2. I noticed a definite uptic in MPG after about 5000 miles. On the RTS (pulling trailer driver only) I averaged right at 36 mpg...sometimes even hit 40...am finding similar mileage on the F3t. I do not like or use ECO mode and I travel a few above posted speeds. I do use cruise whenever appropriate.
On the stereo I have noticed a huge improvement over my 2014 ... on the F3...
Farkles...as you know unlimited but I say the best $$ is for Safety lights and TricLED (a site sponsor) have the absolute best in all things LED as well as their customer service is GOLDEN.
Again welcome to the 1330 world...great choice. But you know without Pictures posted ..........:dontknow:

Break in your new Spyder in whatever way you want; ride it like you stole it, follow the operator's manual, or anywhere in between. Then:

1. If you turn the fun handle the right way you'll find the engine gets to the red line very quickly, and with plenty of power.

2. Gas mileage will improve as you log miles on the machine. Did you buy it for fun or economy?

3. I wear ear plugs and use a Sena headset so the quality of the stereo system is not an issue for me.

Depends on how you drive. 28 to 40 MPG is what it can do.. I avg 32 at 65-70 MPH

You can take the RPMS up and it wont hurt the bike. That semi auto shift is sweet.

Give it some time you will to get use to the new ride

ECO mode waste of time in my book. It drops power down a bit and shows you a shift light:yikes:

1 ST VS. 2ND GEAR !!!!

Friend - 1st gear is where most of your pulling power is not 2nd ........... On a Manual transmission if you try to start in 2nd gear a lot of veh's will stall unless you slip the clutch a lot and that won't last long because you will eventually FRY it ......... Annnd if you think - well I have a SE trans (?)..... it's NO different..... Get your Spyder up to at least 20 mph before you shift to 2nd ...... 30 would be better ........... Mike

My 2014 RTL made a huge jump in fuel economy after a few thousand miles. The first 5000 to 6000 miles the average was 32 mpg. After that, it jumped to 40 (with best ever at 44). It was almost like over night. Go figure...I was just happy when it increased.

I've put almost 25,000 on it now and have noticed that Interstate speeds (65-75) I only get 30-32 mpg. But if I keep it below 60, the millage increases significantly (40+) and that's 1 or 2 up.

I really like my 1330. It has fantastic response in the lower gears so I'm not sure what's up with that in your 1st gear.

I'm not too impressed with the 2014 stereo either so I use headphones as well. I wish my stereo had a lot more bass response (it's nominal at best so I hardly ever listen through the speaker system).

Welcome to the 1330's. It's a great machine. I just got in off a road trip to Fla (about 1200 miles). Perfect ride...no problems...smooth, reliable ride all the way there and back.

Hope you enjoy yours even half as much as I have mine.
Blessings!

:congrats: on your new RT 1330.

For starters, try shifting upward into all gears at between 3000 and 3500. That is the "sweet" spot for most. You will know when it is right. I let it downshift on its own 98% of the time.

I have found the 1330 to be quite "peppy" in first gear if you give it a twist. The 1330 has more "torque" in the lower gears than the two cylinder.

Mileage--once you get it broken in (about 5000) should be in the low to mid forties. I consistently get about 39 mpg.

Congrats!

:congrats: and 1330club

I too have moved from a 2012 RT to our current 2014 RT - wow - what a difference - extremely happy with the 2014RT and your gas mileage should improve as you get more miles on it. I am SO happy with the gas mileage on our 2014RT compared to our 2012RT....

Enjoy your ride and if you want to see farkles, go ahead and look on my profile page under the "about me" tab in the mods area if you would like to see some of the farkles we have.....

I also started out getting about 25 mpg on our 2014 RTL and was very disappointed, but it gradually got better and better. Now, we consistently get about 36-38 mpg. I'm happy with that.

I just joined the 1330 club today. We traded the 2010 RTs SM5 for a 2016 RTs SE6. Can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can take it for a spin. The SM5 rarely got into 5th gear, just curious if that's the case on the SE6. Most of our riding is 2 lane 55mph road, and lots of backroads. Should I expect to get into 6th gear regularly?

Absolutely! 39 mph you can shift into 6th

It'll get better....

For accurate readings make sure you are putting in the same fuel and the same amount or as close as posibble. Then try to have similar routes..
Don't know about the radio mine is in my helmet...
you have a power band in every gear but I'm not sure if it getting up to speed or it's the speed you shift at....keep ryding and observing things will get better and you will have a great ryde....

Jealous!

Traded in my 2011 RT-S last week for a brand new 2016 (still in the crate) Special Series Triple Black too, cannot wait to experience the difference of a 1330 from the 998!

:congrats: You'll find that the 1330 is a lot less fussy about when and where you should be shifting.
The 998s really loved to rev...
The 1330s have a lot more torque at lower rpms.

My first spyder was 2012RTS-SE5 ( 998 engine) in 2014 I upgraded to my current spyder which is 2014RTS-SE6 cognac, the 1330 ace engine is very quite, low maintance, etc. Deanna

1330clubBreak it in, I could tell the difference between the first 1000 compared to the second 1000 miles. I'm at around 2500 miles and its starting to purr like a kitten.

2012 vs 2014 and later

The one thing I've noticed between the 2012 RT-S and the 2014 and later RT's, is that at least the 2012 is faster on acceleration. It's not as smooth as the 2014 and later, nor does it achieve the same gas mileage. But I didn't acquire one for the fuel economy anymore than one would buy a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat for its "miserly" fuel consumption.

1330club and enjoy many miles of smiles. One aspect of the 1330 triple is that its "sweet spot" operating range is between 2,000-4,000 RPM. You will learn the best shift points the more you drive your Spyder. Be sure to read the Dos & Don'ts that can be found on this Forum. Don't worry about the mpgs for the first 6,000-9,000 miles. Just get out there and enjoy it!!!!!
Ride Safe
Mike
