• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I am going to be a new spyder owner this Friday July 24th (if I can wait that long).
I will be picking up a 2015 yellow metallic RT limited and I have a couple of questions.

How hard is it to install the trailer hitch yourself?
Does the 1330 tow a bunkhouse camper ok?
Are the adjustable vents on the front worth getting? I have airwings on my current bike and they make a huge difference, just wondering on the spyder because of location.
How good is the factory seat on the limited? Is the comfort seat worth getting or should I get an aftermarket. I know a lot of this is preference and I see a lot of recommendations for both the Corbin, and the Ultimate seat.

This site has been a WORLD of help on my decision to purchase. I rented one for a day and all of the information on first rides was dead on!!

I can tell you right now this week is going to DRAAAAGGGGG by very slowly. Already looked at the clock way to many times today!

:welcome: It appears that Christmas is coming twice this year for you! :D :congrats:
I have the adjustable side air deflectors, and REALLY like them! On a hot day; I set them to funnel more air in onto me and the Missus...
Cold weather; I shut them off!
You're limited to 400 pounds for towing; I would be hesitant to offer any advice other than that, since I don't know what your camper weighs.
Seats? You'll literally have to ask your own bottom about that! Everyone's arse will have a different opinion! :roflblack:

Thanks for the response, there is one other thing I forgot to ask. Is the vented windshield worth getting? With the ability to raise and lower the windshield what advantage or disadvantage is there with the vented windshield?

We were JUST kicking that issue around in another thread...
SpyderAnn01 mentioned that the OEM shields have two small vents which help to reduce buffeting.
The larger center vent in the optional shield isn't capable of being adjusted for where the air blows.
She mentioned that, for the cost; it's best to have an aftermarket one put in your OEM shield.

Welcome..!! Welcome..!!

To the spyder world and this most helpful site..congrats on your (almost home) new ryde..:2thumbs: don't have your model but those that do will give you what you need. Hitch is pretty easy, no problem pulling that trailer (keep it at recommended weight) wiring can be fun...hope the wait is painless..:roflblack::roflblack: seats, there are many...We like our comfort but never trired the others...

:congrats: & :welcome:

I'd let your backside decide for you if you want to upgrade or not.
Some people love the seat and some not so much.
I personally didn't and went with an Ultimate Seat and it's worth every cent I spent.

I will answer a couple.
Air Vents: the ability to move the air around to suit you is good. You should experience no adverse heating issues with the 2015.

Nice color choice!!!

Personally, I have got rid of every OEM seat. They were all to squishy for my taste. They start out cushy, but are torture machines after about 50 miles or so. Have used Corbin on two, and BRP Comfort on the other three. Our current choices. The Comfort seat has more supportive padding, sets you back a couple inches more (sorry about that passenger), and cost about $650. That is less than most aftermarket replacement seats. The new ones also come backrest ready (a removable patch). Will accept either BRP or Utopia for sure.

While the OEM seat may or may not suit your tastes, MotorcycleDave a sponsor of this site makes a very fine gel pad/memory foam cushion to bolster the stock seat. I have never done any upholstery before and I added it to my Spyder Saturday. It is not hard just take your time and all will be well. Before I started the project I looked at pictures Dave has on his website and then as I got into the project I did have to call him for some advice.Dave is a very pleasant fellow and great to talk to.He is very interested in you getting full use out of what ever he sells you and will spend a little time getting you directions. So don't immediately think you need to spend mega dollars to get a comfortable seat. In the little I have ridden since Saturday I can tell a difference. I'll know more soon.

Thanks for all of the great info and the open arm welcome!!

I chose to go with the factory seat and backrest at this point, but hat might not last long. I also went with the adjustable chrome air vents, and the factory vented windshield.:D

I have been riding motorcycles for over 40 years and a Yamaha Venture Royale for to many years to count. I have owned three of these 1986, 1989, and the current 1991. I am extremely excited about the new Spyder, but a little nervous also.

I will post pics as soon as I pick it up.
