• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

new size front tires

I spoke about changing tire sizes in a past thread and everyone pretty much thought it would affect the computer and not work. Even my dealer said oh no you cant run any other tires or the VSS will get messed up. We sell the stock tires here he said. Well being the way I am and not able to rest thinking that I could maybe have a better performing tire with better looks than the little donut tires theyput on the front of the spyder. WELL guess what? I went ahead and did it. I changed the tires and i am blown away by the performance and they look so good. The new tires are so much stronger than the factory ones. I checked the stock ones after they took them off and they are so cheesy. You can push down the side walls like they were made of soft plastic. I mean they are very weak tires. The new ones are so strong. The side wall is strong and tight. These tires make the spyder handle so well amd ride so nice. not to mention the wider look blends in so well with the rest of the spyder. I can take turns so fast and tight that it feels like I hade some suspension work done or something. It is a whole new spyder with a much better feel. I could not stop riding the machine once I tested it. Best mod I could have ever made and the gear ratio is not affected since its the front tires. The speedo could be of by .6 miles per hour after my tire guy did the math. Thats less than a mile per hour. Oh, Nothing rubs anywhere. Perfect fit. Again very happy. We will not be needing the dealer for tires thats for sure.

Tire size

Sorry, Had to run to emergency room and forgot to mention tire size.
Here it is below.

Stock tire 165/65/14

New tire 185/60/14 - Falken EZ512

This is something I planned all along, was replacing with car tires. But what hoopla I heard about that> You got stick with the stock nothing else will work it will screw up basically everything. Hog wash I say. They tell you that with car manufactures as well; of coarse they do they want all the money they can get.

Just a thought

When you go to wider front tires in the front you might be increasing the possibility of hydoplanning in the rain. Anyone else smarter than me care to comment.

re

I'm going to use stock until I wear them out. by then Lamonster and some of the 100,000 mile riders will have had the best research for me to make my decision. I like some of the tire patterns I have seen posted but, it's to early to hear feeback on possible issues and complaints.

I can't say that :agree:, a Spyder doesn't lean any more than a car does. Curved profile tires are that way so two wheeled vehicles (scoots, bikes etc) can lean and still keep a decent contact patch.

performance

a round tyre rather than a square sided tyre would perform a lot better!!!

If the bike leaned I would say yes but that is not the case here. It has a sports car like front end. I have been riding the spyder all summer and I tell you the difference is so amazing. It handles like a porche not a three wheeler. You will here the same from others who try it. Feels much safer at higher speeds. Had it up to 117 and no problem at all.

I want some BIG STUPID TIRES!:2thumbs: It would be cool to raise the front end up a bit - a chopper look LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then add some APES to it of course. Hmmmmm, guess I better be saving up for the Trirod:clap::b2b:
