• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. New Side panels

go to the BRP website for roadster-spyder....under owners click on contact us....hope that works....

I can't use it as it doesn't recognise that we are in New Zealand, that's the problem with living in a third world country. I have tried contacting the NZ BRP office, but get no reply from them, that's why I thought I would try going to the top.

Jacque, congratulations in getting BRP to step up and pay for your panels. My ST-S has had minor heat issues but I corrected those with about $80 in heat shielding and reflective heat tape from the local auto store. My last mod was last weekend when I ripped out my air box and resonator and installed JT's air filter kit. It wasn't absolutely necessary, but I thought if I could create more open space in the engine compartment for air flow, it couldn't hurt. But it sounds like your new panels have accomplished the same thing. Hope you have many smiles and trouble-free miles from now on.

That's great, so glad it worked for you. I put $300+ heat shielding also but could not fix the hot air blowing on above my ankle and only cut the panel heat by 40/50 %. my home made deflector didn't work so resorted to a pot holder strapped to my leg. I was also worried about all that hot air trapped in the engine compartment would start affecting my engine components like they did on some. I do believe the Problem is solved now. Thanks again ...

Got the new panels today. Took about 45 minutes to install them. They look nice.
There are two pieces of foam that are not on any of the lists that people have put up.
I will get the part numbers and post them.

Here are some before and after pics.

I wish we could talk face to face...because right now I'm just totally pissed off that you got done what 50 other of us needed done...at our own expense. Not your fault, but really totally pisses me off that I had to spend money to correct their problem.

Actually it pisses me off that this type favoritism happens on this forum seemingly over and over and 99% of us are left to spend our own money for a freaking fix that. BRP should have fixed!!!

Good for you...but we are screwed! Fending for ourselves!

I need to to find a better forum. Sheesh

.

I know that if I had faced the same issues on the ST as you and Jacque did, I would never have spent my own money on a fix. I would have dogged BRP until they did something to make it right. If owners continue to fix design/manufacturing problems themselves BRP will never correct the problems. These problems need to be driven back to the factory.

I agree 100% that BRP should take care of this. But after $20,000.00 I wanted to be able to ride in comfort this summer and not sit and look at it and say it is too hot out to ride. My left side panel was burning my leg at 65 deg. What was it going to be like at 90:yikes:. I went the cheaper route and gutted the airbox. I refused to pay the high price for the new panels. So far it has worked I only have left side heat in stop and go traffic and it cools quickly when I get up to speed. If BRP decides to fix there mistake I will take the new FREE side panels.

I agree re to a point.

But I run 2 businesses currently and I just don't have the time to put into the fight.

Dealers around here seem to be different than I see others post on this forum...they simply just don't care.

I know some of the inside workings of how BRP pressures dealers to do certain things...and that works fine in big markets, but around here where the market is slim it just doesn't work.

One instance is in the past BRP said if a dealer here didn't carry all their products they would shut them down.

Ended up closing down our BEST Seadoo dealer in town, and we got stuck with another...but that dealer now only sells Seadoo and Can Am 4 wheelers....no Spyders ??

So they relaxed their dealings...but screwed the customers.

So now I'm stuck w 2 other dealers in my area...one is strictly out to make a dollar (which I understand), the other doesn't give a damn about you unless you bought a bike from them at an inflated price?

So what is one to do?

I haven't got the time to deal w non caring BRP dealer... if I had researched deeper...I may not have ever bought this product...I have already decided I pretty much will never buy another...or look back.

BRP wants to make it right w me, PAY ME BACK THE $800. THAT I SPENT FIXING THEIR PROBLEM !

:dontknow:

Question for those who have ordered these parts. When I went to Powersports Warehouse to look up the parts, the descriptions are all in French, at least for the few parts I queried. Is that what you saw or did I get something wrong?

Foam Pieces

Here are the Part Numbers for the Two Foam pieces that are not on any of the lists that are posted at this point.
They attach to the inside of the new panels that go on the frunk. They look like they would keep the electrical connectors
from vibrating against the body panels.

UPDATE. 2014 panels feel cooler

We went on a 200+ mile ride yesterday through the high desert here in California. 100 degree day out in the desert.
My wife said her ST feels much cooler to ride than before we changed the panels.:D

Every time we stopped I put my hands on the panels and checked to see if the gas cap was hot.
Nothing felt hot at all. It feels the same temp as my 2014 RTS.

Her Spyder has not had any problems with heat since we bought it. We bought the 2014 panels
because I like the idea of getting more air to cool under the plastic.

Thank you to all who posted on this thread. I read every page before I made the decision to by these panels.
I am glad I did. Not only do they work. They look cool too!!

I may be getting ready to do this. Nothing else has seemed to help the excessive panel heat on my wife's ST-S.

What did you do with the '13 panels that you removed?

I've tried no less than 6 times to send an email to BRP through their online comment deal about the panels and everytime from multiple computers it won't send the message to them. Wonder what's up with that

I've had my panels long enough now to know workout a doubt they work. The panels are now comfortable and I don't have to worry about my engine components failing from excessive heat.

Only heat I feel now is between my inside knee and ankle, left side, from a little hot air escaping the engine compartment between the upper and lower panels and on the right side when I use my HWY bars. Problem solved with half chaps.

Since I did not pay for my panels my dealer returned my 2013 panels to BRP.
