There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. New RT, Blue

Picked up new RT-audio/convenience today. Traded in 2008 yellow with 5700 miles.

Dealer: Honda East, Maumee, Ohio. A good dealer with a great salesman. Jeff Eckman.

I almost decided to keep both. When I drove the 2008 I forgot how fast they really are as I always ride two up, but not on the way to trade it in. That was a fun ride.

The RT is definitely different in the instant speed department but our intent is to take longer tours and this should do very well. The yellow was outfittled with all the gear to make it a touring model but after riding the RT for the few miles I did today there is no comparison.
I may get the trailer also a bit later. I want to make sure we are going to take longer trips where it may come in handy. For now it has enough storage for a long weekend trip.

I do expect some problems with the complexity of the electricals etc. but I had great luck with my first spyder and hoping the same for this one. I did buy the extended warranty just for the "comfort" of knowing most should be taken care of.
Honda East seems to be very reputable on the dealings I have had with them, and they have a technician well trained (and interested) in working on spyders. Takes it serious.

They did the SE-5 clutch recall when they got it ready for delivery and it shifts very smooth, both up and down.

No "funny" steering as some reported on forums. Just grab the
steering wheel lightly and let it follow your lead. Very smooth to me, but I do turn corners slow generally and don't drive too fast in city streets, two lane roads, but on the highway I drive speed limit of state I'm in.

Highway driving was fantastic with the adjustable windshield. I'm 5' 10" and lowest position is good for most, rides and I found that raising it higher if on highway and my wife said it helps keep the wind down for her a bit more than queen slider did on the RS.

Love the cruise control and is a must for the longer rides. Radio is nice but I would not have needed it really. Might be nice for stops and checking weather etc. but Droid phone has all that and more.

I have liked the spyder since my first one and feel that will continue with the RT. Time will tell but for our age group and how we ride it's just right.

Anyone looking to buy black Mooren floorboards, F-1 queen slider, F-1 27" windshield also, Nelson-Rigg side bags, tank bag, back rest (but not base it fits in) let me know. I did not get any consideration for them on trade so they said to just take them off if I wanted and sell them on forums/ebay etc. and I just installed the original windshield and they were happy.
If I forgot something I will post it.

good decision - also changed from my 08GS-13.000 mls to a blue RT .. did`nt regret one single mile (now more than 4.000) on the beginning my wife said ..this lookes too fat and non-sporty..(makes me old)
but now she likes it - feeles more comfortable and secure
very happy RT owner
greetings from AUSTRIA

Sounds familiar. I traded my '08 for a 2010 Blue RT. I really liked my '08 but, I LOVE the RT. This bike has everything and more.

Welcome to another Michigan RT owner. :congrats: Here's to many enjoyable miles on your new RT.

If you have not already done so, you may want to place an add for your old accessories on the 4 Sale section of this forum. Listing prices helps. many have had good success there. I may even be interested in the tank bag, if it is the BRP bag. I want to modify one for my RTS.

Nancystoy: thanks for the information on where to sell. I will get to posting there also.
The tank bag is a BRP.
I have a daughter in Coldwater and we ride there most because the riding is easy from our home, it's a nice area to ride, and we like to see her of course.

Lamonster: I travel down your way for work at times and if in the plans to use the spyder on the trip we can possibly meet up. We can meet anyway I suppose. Have supper at the Acorn exit on I-40? I drive through I-40 to Asheville/Knoxville etc. Last time went 25E from Asheville to Corbin, KY.
Saw one spyder riding with a two wheeler cruiser type bike. on one section of 25E.

Nice trip on 25E and you seem be to relatively close to Morristown. I forgot how slow those roads can be when behind a truck. I used to live in Asheville many years ago. (before the big growth BOOM) Not as pleasant now in town (to me).

To others: Thanks. I look forward to the many rides. My wife could not be happier. It was a surprise for her as we looked a year ago but did not pull the trigger then.
She does not feel she wants/needs armrests but when the right design comes out I will probably get them. She would be more secure I think. Downside, she may feel too comfortable and fall asleep.:) Then she will be glad they were there.

Another immediate advantage to this RT. I can use her as an additional backrest in conjunction with the lumbar support on my section of the seat (which is really nice). The seating position works just right for that. Perfectly slender is not always an advantage. :)
If she keeps losing weight at the rate she is my comfort level goes down.
How to resolve that issue?

Thanks to all.

Very nice writeup! welcome:congrats:

:congrats: Waiting for the 2011 RTS to come out White i hope.
If the info I was given this past week from BRP directly before their three week shutdown.... No changes beyond the normal "Improvements" and no new colors.

new blue RT too - almost

I bought mine in May. Actually got it in June. I put a few miles on, but then had back surgery and then a month long trip to the east coast. But have it all back together now. Wife and i live full-time in a 40' motor home. I had to get rid of the lift i had on the rv to carry the two-wheelers and buy a trailer to haul the Spyder and a new car to pull the trailer. Toys, toys, toys! Finally got it all together and in the same place with me. Trying to get the miles for the 600 mi. service this week and go in next week. i have read posts her for the last three months, but feel the need t ask for advice. What should I make sure the dealer does? I am going to have them adjust the suspension. Does the missing air dam issue apply to the 2010 RT? What about the excess heat on the right side? Anything i can do?:gaah:

Sounds like you made a great choice. You will really enjoy that cruise on long trips. It works great. I also did the same thing the first of June. Traded an 08 RS manual trans for a RTSM5. Love it! I did just put a performance sway bar on last weekend from Evoluzione and it made the bike better in the high speed curves and in town tight corners. Welcome to Spyder RT riding.

....... Wife and i live full-time in a 40' motor home..... :gaah:

Sorry to hijack the thread but wanted to say hey from another full-time RV'er.. we live in a 37' Mobile Suites 5th wheel.. the Spyder will probably stay at our home-base we are building in the TX hill country until I can get me a Class 8 tractor converted to pull the 5er and tote the Spyder in the next year or so....

lovin' the life

never happier than in my RV. Ridung the cycle, playing golf and seeing the country. It doesn't get any better. parked now at Rising Sun IN looking over the majestic Ohio river.
Still looking for advice on the things to bring up at the 600 mile service.:gaah:

:congrats: BNME! Sounds like you made a great choice. I wish you two many happy miles on the new RT. She sounds like a beauty! I was considering the RT at first, but it's not quite my style. I'm still hard-chargin and my wife wanted to ride her own as well, so we went with the RS models. But it sounds like you made the right choice for you. It's cool to have the option! Enjoy, Brother! :ohyea:
