I drove #879 to its new home on Sunday Oct 12  and had it on jacks Monday. The items that I had ordered began arriving while waiting for Ridenow of Chandler to decide if they wanted to sell a Spyder. I know you all like pictures so here are a few. The only accessory that I wanted was the adjustable handlebar.

I have been a lurker on SpyderLovers.com for some time and decided on the 2014 because of what I learned over the course of many hours of research and decided before hand what aftermarket items I would add. This is a great place to gain knowledge on these machines and I was able to save on the purchase. I used the price the dealer in Texas has advertised to help me with the sale. I was originally going to buy from the Texas dealer just to save the bucks but reading a previous discussion about buying local and with all the sickness going around, what with open borders and such, flying was out and I didn't want to drive so shipping to my door for $850 was the only option. Sure Ebay will show a much lower price for shipping, but when you contact the shipper and they find it is a Spyder over 1000 lbs, the price is higher. I would still have saved much more but in the end, with all the problems that have been reported, even some with 2014, I decided to pay extra to buy local. This dealer has several BRP trained Spyder maintenance types so that was also a plus. I also purchased the 3 yr BRP BEST warranty and used the low price that was found from research on this forum. At my request, they gave me a copy of the BUDS report on #879. I dealt with the internet sales manager. Hello to you if you too are lurking here. And hello to the young man who stopped by to talk to me at the dealership. Sorry, I forgot your name. He also is a member on the forum. He is dealing with BRP over the heat issues on a 2013. Good luck to you on that one.
So what have I learned?
1) Do the research. I feel that I should have spent even more time researching.
2) They are all salesman and no matter how much they make, it isn't enough and you will hear how they are not making any money etc.
3) I sure would like a Spyder table jack. Already have spent hours on the concrete floor.
4) I already have several items on the list that needs to be addressed by maintenance and if the service adviser will work with me, I will have made the right choice by buying local.
5) As someone who has been riding motorized 2 wheels for 53 years, I can say, I really like this machine with the adjustable bars. I will like it better when the few issues I have are taken care of.
6) The wife is happy :yes:with the purchase. She says the passenger area is more comfortable than the 2002 Harley ultra classic I once had. Wow
7) Be prepared. I took the wife to a nearby town for supper last night. As we were preparing to leave, a man approached and "How do you like it". It seems his wife is interested. Yeah right.:roflblack:
