Hi, my wife and I just purchased a 2012 RT-S. We're both motorcycle riders (I ride a 2011 Kawasaki Concours, she has a 2009 Yamaha VStar 1300 Tourer). Due to some knee issues she no longer feels comfortable on 2 wheels, so we started looking at trikes. Luckily, she didn't like any of the traditional style ones we saw (I hate them). As far as Can-Am went, she had sat on an RS before and didn't like it, but our bike dealer had an RT-S in the back, she sat on that and said it felt great. Took it for a cruise, and decided this is the way she wanted to go. They were asking 20k for a 2011 with 11k miles, and would only come down to 17500, so we started looking around. We found the 2012 at another dealer who is actually a can-am dealer. It had just under 4200 miles and he we got it for 16k. I rode it home Saturday (too cold for her!). Yesterday it was 50 and we went out for a couple hours so she could get used to it. She had a blast and it's good to see her excited about riding again.
I already had my 1st mechanical screw up, I was installing the cable for her heated gear, and heard the horrible plink of the nut falling out of the bottom of the negative battery connector. I had to remove the side panels to get in there enough to get the cable reconnected. I never did get the original nut/bolt on, I used a longer one and fed it from the bottom and put the nut on top. The Tupperware comes off a lot easier than my Concours though, but getting that cable hooked up wasn't fun. Not a real good design when a 5 minute job turns into 2 hours! I found the videos here of how to remove the panels, they were a huge help.
