• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

new owner with riding issues

:D It looks to me as if the Spyders fit through that tree with a bit less stress, than this pickup!

rode with my husband today for about 5 hrs on our new 2015 rt lt--worse bike ride i have ever had--i've gotta be doing something wrong since everyone else loves theirs?--i tried pressing down on outside foot (in curve) and leaning and then pressing down with outside food and pressing back into backrest--is that correct?--and this thing throws me all over with the least little bump--i was hanging onto those grips for dear life--it has adjustable suspension--do u have to reset it after each time u stop and restart the bike? we couldnt find the screen that says if its on or not after the first stop--whats the weight limit for these things?--we are a combined weight of around 600---

My girlfriend had the same issue and was terrified after our first ride. So I did 2 things for her. One...Get some armrests. I installed the Corbin armrests and she loves them.. they kinda snug you in and greatly increase the lateral support of the passenger. The other thing I did was...believe it or not... I installed a little seat belt for her. Just a 2 inch wide nylon strap with a plastic buckle. I took off the backrest and ran the belt behind it and then reinstalled. I truly gave her a sense of security and she hen LOVED the ride. Now after 3000 miles she doesn't use the seat belt anymore and is VERY comfortable on the bike.

my 2 cents...

Welcome to the Spyder Family!!!
My wife and I are also pushing the higher tolerances of our RTL. These helped us as pilot and copilot :)

1- BajaRon Anti-swaybar. My copilot (wife) was able to notice the difference just coming out of the driveway. The tryke no longer swayed so much thus allowing for fewer course corrections.

2- Ensure that the suspension is actually inflating! We found that our compressor was broken and not inflating the airbag while the indicator on the display showed full. It only reads what you set it to and NOT what it is. She was bouncing all over the place because there was no air in it....

Check

The arm under the left side, make sure it is connected to the airbag.. Mine was not connected

Alas, we are too fat lol--i didnt make myself clear--i was in passenger seat--hell of a rough ride--do u ride with a passenger? do they complain of it being way rough?--we did put the suspension at the highest when we left home--will it stay on till we change it? or do u have to set it each time u start the bike?

My wife and I exceed the max weight and don't have a problem. I do check the air pressure in the rear suspension air bag before the two of us go out, but my wife thinks our 2011 RT is one of the most comfortable and stable rides she's ever experienced. I'm wondering if part of your problems is because your husband hasn't learned to keep a light hand on the bars yet...

thanks so much guys!--love this forum!---the plan is for me to ride the spyder, but i was hoping we could use it to go to rallys and such since hubby's harley isnt that manuverable in parking lots and on gravel, etc.--so i just need to hurry and learn to ride myself lol--at 55 yrs of age with no previous experience!

My wife took the three wheel course down here in Florida and got her endorsement. She drives from time to time...gives us both a break.

goodlord, whats the ballpark figure for those 3 things??
Murphybrown had an good estimate of the cost. I figure, I want to be comfortable when riding, so the cost warrant the ride after. Plus bought each item separate, to keep the hurt down!;)

update

well our dealer here in arkansas never heard of a laser alignment---he recommended we ride with auto suspension at the mid-way point instead of at the hardest setting (which makes no sense to me--seems like the heavier u are the stiffer it should be)---it did help a little but not much

I would worry about a dealer who had never heard of the laser alignment...

Arkansas is often the butt of ridicule and put downs in the form of jokes. What percentage of them would you suppose may actually be deserved? :joke:

Since Arkansas has some of the best two-lanes and friendliest people in the country, guess they can live with a little ribbing? As far as laser alignment places, Jonesboro is about 200 miles from Springfield MO where one of our site sponsors Pit Bull does alignments.

By any chance; did you buy it from Rando? :dontknow:

I believe that was him Bob, they moved to Arizonia and sold their Spyder, My wife drove all the way out to Michigan to get the trailer, stoping in Wisconson to visit her 98 year old Mom. She had one heck of a road trip last summer and now has over 20K on her bike, pretty good for a 64 year old lady who had never ridden a bike in her life besides on the back of my Norton in the 70's.

My hubs rides a Kaw Voyager and I traded my '11 RT for a '15 RT this summer. We like to travel and when we get to a destination, we both hop on the Spyder to do the touristy things. Because it is much easier to park one bike AND it can maneuver easier than his Voyager...
BTW, I got my M license 2 years ago, bought a 2 wheeler and had issues at stop signs because I am very vertically challenged. Bought the 2011 and haven't looked back, except to see where the hubby is when we are going through curves:thumbup:

Rando's a really great guy...

Even if he is from Romulus, Michigan...

Hmm, Voyager and spyder, seems familiar.

Second thing was to increase the front tire pressure up to over 20lbs each,,, Dealer recommended 16 1/2 and it dived and rolled and swayed like crazy...20.5 is much better for us.!
I would suggest that you go up to 22PSI in the fronts and see if that helps you. You don't mention your rear tire pressure. Try 28 PSI.Some run 24PSI in the fronts and 30 PSI inthe rear.
Give DOC Humphries a PM. I have one set of his stiffeners on the fronts(A position), and a set on the rear spring. You may need 2 sets on the fronts(B position) like DOC uses.
