• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. New Owner here. A few ??

:welcome:check youre ramp, broke the belt guard on mine loading onto trailer ,guard sits very low :yikes:

Hello all. Silver 2010 RT have had it for about 2 weeks now, it has around 450 miles, I had to move the jumper for the bags to show when open. Have a lot of braking noise when braking normal sounds like baseball card in spoke of bicycle. What can be done about this? Also noticed today that when I push down on the back end that when it comes back up it makes a loud bump thud sound. Is this normal? I have 45 PSI in rear shock. Also the RT got its first war wounds this past Sunday riding in the toy hauler. Straps came loose and allowed the rear trunk (just above the key hole) and fender to rub against the back ramp. Well that spot is not silver no more. Also noticed (around 100 miles) that the lower part of the belt guard is cracked, almost in half. Any one else ever have this happen? Think this would be a warranty item? From South Louisiana. But I work all over, in Houston, TX at the moment.

The baseball card sound could be the broken belt guard catching on the belt notches. best way to check is to take the belt guard off the Spyder and see if that noise goes away.
Cheers

Thanks for the replies. Bought it in New Orleans.
Read Campaign no.: 2010–0006 About the rear shock replacement. Wondering if anyone else had to have this done. If so how is the new shock holding up? I noticed the shock thud yesterday when getting off of the Spyder. Seems like it should last more than 450 miles.

Belt guard was cracked before ever being put on a trailer. (Noticed this around 100 miles). I heard the brake noise since picking it up. And to me it is loud. Can even hear when wearing a FF helmet. Son on the Vulcan with loud pipes even hears it, then laughs and shakes his head.(mumbles to self how much $)

I had the same issue with my 2010 Silver RT and the rear shock was replaced under warranty based on a BRP bulletin. The defective unit was replaced at 1200 mi and no more probs.

Is the brake noise steady or just when you apply them. ?
And does it sound like a large truck stopping.?

Brake noise starts at the start of braking through to complete stop. The pitch and sound seems to be the same through out the braking process. Sounds like back in the day when kids would put ball cards in their bicycle spokes to make noise. But I guess trying to describe a sound would be different to most folks.

I guess riding with a bad shock would be OK till it get's to the shop?

That's a new one on me. [the card sound]
If it was squealing like a garbage truck stopping short The 3th Gen. stopped that for a lot of Spyders mine included.
Wish i could be more helpful.

:welcome: and :congrats: on getting your spyder. I hope they are able to get things sorted out for you quickly and keep you on the road.

I know the exact noise your describing. My RT does the same thing, it only comes from the right front wheel and it's pretty loud. I've had the wheel off, inspected the pads, caliper and rotor and nothing looks abnormal. I just had the 600 mile service done and the dealer could not give me an answer other than "It's characteristic of the RT". I'd love to know what the resolution is because I'm sure it's not normal. Keep me posted if your dealer comes up with an answer.

Still in Texas working. Should be able to get it in to the shop in a couple of weeks. Will post findings.

Hi Dar!
Your top trunk scar might have a cure... Would the trim piece from an "RTS" cover it up? I just added one to my A&C model and it was pretty easy to do... The tough part was putting the new "BRP" logo on straight and level...

I notice this noise at around 40 mph and below. It gets louder and softer depending on the amount of pressure on the brake pedal.
