New old stock purchase - Ryker 900

Looking at getting my first trike. I know I want the 900 engine - I was hoping to get the Rally, but I just don't want to pay for it, not knowing if I'll like the trike experience.

That being said, would you have any concerns about buying a 2019 from a dealer - it is new, not used. Any specific questions or items I should check on?

Welcome. Just make sure the recalls & service bulletins are done. Specifically upgraded wheel nuts and washer under the handlebar mount. I came from two wheels and after seven months, I'm still lovin this thing. I had three bikes, but sold two of them off since purchasing the Ryker, I kept one just to scratch that two wheel itch every now & then. I added a few accessories and upgrades to the Ryker to make it a little better for me.

If you are not certain you will like the trike experience either rent a Spyder/Ryker for a few days or find a dealer that is participating in the BRP rider school.

It's more like, I don't want to spend 11.5k on the Rally to then turn around and spend 19k on the F3. I'd rather get a Ace - upgrade it as I see fit - gain experience on it then get an F3 in a couple years.

I will commute on it - ideally full time starting next school year (i'm a teacher). However, I'd also like to do some touring/camping with it.

Nothing wrong with new old stock. Check it well for any damage it may have suffered. I bought my RT in January of 2017 and it was a new 2015 model. It was a base model in black that nobody seemed to want. I got everything I would have got with a 2017 except the price. I plan on riding it until it won't ride anymore so any depreciation means nothing to me. RT now has 36,000 trouble free miles on it and I have no intention of getting rid of it.

In mud February 2019, I bought a new, unused early 2017 F3L and am vey pleased with it. I've had no difficulties at all with it.

I brought a used 2019 900 ACE last June. Had 680 miles on the clock. Today is has 8188 and not a lick of trouble. I'm still loving it.

#1.- make sure it has NEVER been registered as a DEMO, .... because that's when the Warranty will have started .... #2.- 11.5 K for a TWO year old Ryker is imho a Rip-off ..... good luck .... Mike :thumbup:

I would suggest test riding both the Ryker and F3T if you plan on long distance commuting and/or easy touring. I know some of done some extensive touring on a Ryker but that's not really what it was built for.

You can find a F3S, possibly with some warranty left for about the same price as you are stating for the Ryker Rally. Check into some of the Facebook Marketplace adds and be patient. There are some deals there. Found a 2017 F3S with under 3k miles for under $11k a few weeks ago. Good luck shopping.

I have a 12/2018 - not a real problem in the last 16.000 miles - most full loaded 2up here in the Alps ..

Get the Rally only if you are fine with the shocks that come with it. If you plan on upgrading those shocks, then get the 900 or 600. Be aware that the resale value on the 600 is worse, but still a solid choice.

Yeah, but its not just about the upgraded suspension on the Rally. For many, myself included, its also the Max Mount and more importantly an extra less restrictive driving mode called Rally mode. Not to mention stronger reinforced rims, and some like the Liquid Silver trim.

I agree with Blueknight, $11,500 for a two year old unsold Rally, its over priced. I believe thats regular msrp. Last July I paid $12,500 out the door for a current year 2020 Rally, thats TTT freight & all, plus I got $600 in accessories on top of that because of MFG incentives. My recommendation is shop around. Now with all that being said, since I purchased the Ryker there's been a big surge in demand for outdoor recreational vehicles, ATV's, UTV's, boats, motorcycles, RV's & campers, with many in short supply, which will play a role in pricing.

I think there are also a number of Rykers with very low mileage available for very reasonable prices. I don’t think the Rally is necessary although you will want the max rack for touring and it’s is a $300 accessory standard with the Rally.

I think you will want a few other things right away.

Stick on wider view mirrors. These will greatly add to your safety.
Baja Ron anti-sway bar and ends. These will provide a much firmer feel to your cornering

For touting:
Floor boards foot peg replacemend. If you have long legs you will probably want highway pegs as well. Check these at Lamonster Garage. Your feet will thank you as the standard foot pegs will be extremely uncomfortable after 30;miles or so.

3 piece luggage set from slingmods. This will give you the most luggage room and include additional lights to be more easily spotted and a backrest if you should have a passenger along.
