• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New keys, maintenance, and upgrade items, etc. Any tips/advice?

I recently purchased a 2015 F3-S.
It came with only one key. Is there a good source for keys other than the dealer, and also is there a procedure for programming it ourselves?

Also, I'm not a fan of dealer oils, but do want to stick with name brand filters.
Anyone have a good source for filter/O-ring kits and other maintenance items?

Also, any tips on accessory vendors. I want to upgrade the swaybar, LED headlights, add LED fog lights. install power outlets, an oil pressure gauge, and a few other items.

Thanks in advance,
David

Many owners find the DESS to be fussy under a variety of conditions. Unless you have specific security concerns you should deactivate your DESS which eliminates the need to program a second key. Until then do not lose or damage the key you have now as a world of grief awaits if you do.

BajaRon can help you with oils, filters, spark plugs.

So there are two kinds of keys. The OEM key has a unique ""code", and you use BUDS to program the motorcycle to accept the code. There are aftermarket keys where the key itself is programmable, and a locksmith may have equipment to clone the one key that you have with the "code". There are eBay sellers of the clone keys, and they can cut and program a clone key, but you have to send in your key for them to copy.

believe that was true till 2014 then keys could no longer be cloned.

To answer your question, NO you cannot program an original BRP key yourself without BUDS. With BUDS it's a very simple procedure as long as you have an original key. Anyone that can accurately cut a key can cut a new BRP key to turn in the lock barrels. Also, in order to disable the security system (DESS) so that you could use ANY correctly cut key to start the bike, you not only need BUDS, but also the elevated privilege license to apply that procedure. As to a source of keys, I would look online, but be sure you are buying genuine or the transponder chip may not work for programming purposes. As for oil, filters, etc. I personally have always bought from Lamonster Garage (our site sponsor) and/or BajaRon, and have never had any issues or problems with their products. Hope this helps!
