• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hey Everyone,
I currently don't own a Spyder but plan to shortly. I noticed in a lot of the threads you guys experience a lot of problems with these things. Over all are you guys happy with them? You probably are or you would have gotten rid of them by now.lol Are there any years in particular to stay away from? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

welcome
We have an 09 Phantom, we have never had any other set of wheels that is as much fun & enjoyable as the :spyder2:.
Go for it you, you will love it.

Go for it. I have had mine for over a year and other than a few minor glitches have not had problems. I have had a lot of fun on it tho.:doorag:

2008, no real problems (noisy brakes, parking brake recall) at all and a bunch of happy miles for the wife and I. Glad we did it, would not hesitate again.

welcome Very happy with my 08 red :spyder: a few minor problems nothing major I love my:spyder:

welcome Just take a look at the signatures for the people responding to this thread and many other - it tell you if we are happy.

Some have had problems but over all remember you will see more negativity if a person is having a problem and it get more attention than if you just write about all the good stuff.

I myself like the good stuff -- GREATEST RYDE ON THREE WHELL :2thumbs:

Just work the purchase & don't pay full retail. It's a load of fun - especially around town.

The real issue is that you can't go anywhere and not draw a crowd. If you want to be anonymous, buy a Hardley... :ohyea:

I love my Spyder, its an '08 SM5 and yes I had a problem, with the steering, that has been taken care of and like I told Carlo, the BRP rep for this area and other's, that I know with all new machines the bugs need to be worked out.

I'm also having a little problem now with surging and wrote Carlo about my concerns. He called me a few days ago and told me to take it in and have the 2nd update done.

So, Yes! I'm very happy with my Spyder and have a lot of fun on it. Not everyone has had a problem with their's and you might have one that most of us have and that's smiling a lot, so start working those muscles and welcome

Know what you mean. I go to the grocery store for one item at a time just as an excuse to ride:ohyea:

:agree:I was getting ready to go out to the store, where else. When Tami called from the car wash. She asked if I could take her shopping for Thanksgiving day? I said, don't you pass the the grocery store on your way home and she laughed and said I want to go on the back of your :spyder2:. I was surprised that everything fit in the trunk, including the 18 lb turkey. Of course I couldn't fit what I was going to get. So we took another ride, the long way around both ways to get what I needed.:D

Do I need an excuse? Nahhh just go and have some fun.

welcome I have an '08 SM5 and while I am currently working through the steering issue (just got update2; made problem worse but dealer said I have a bad gear selection sensor) I love my :spyder: and use it as a daily rider back and forth to work.
One word of caution, you will be noticed:D, I have been followed in to parking lots and today had a TX DPS officer turn around and catch up to me just to get a look at the bike. Made me nervous as I was doing an indicated 77mph when he turned around, but he just pulled up beside me, paced me for a few seconds, then waved and slowed down. Also when out on the highway I have cars speed up, get to just off my left rear, then slow down and drop in behind me....at which time I promptly leave them in the dust.;)
