"NEW" Givi E55 Maxia Trunk

Has anyone purchased one of these for their Spyder? It looks like a real nice trunk. Has light option, liner and remote open/close option. Very large size and says it will hold (2) full face helmets. They also make a mounting bracket for the Spyder!

I am seriously considering this, but would like to know if anyone else has one. Thanks!

Well, I have the V46 and it only holds one of our modular helmets... I imagine the 9 extra litres of space may indeed hold both helmets.

Does it mount the same as the V46?

I think it's a great box as well as lower costs. It comes with a mounting plate that means you can install it without the sport rack.Plus you can add a big backrest E95S I think. If I decide on a spyder that is the way I'm going.

I believe it mounts the same as the V46. On a plate that mounts to the spyder, and you can remove bag and take it inside with you.

ow does it look on your Spyder? Does it look too big or like an "add-on"?

The V46 looks fine on the Spyder and I have the V35 sides as well. Does it look like an add on? Sure, but the color matches and yo can't beat the ability to pull them off when needed.

If money were no object then I would go fully Corbin as they look like they are factory.

The only thing I wonder is if that E55 looks too large when compared to the V46.... I guess it depends on how much you will use it for touring or not.

Do not read if you can't take dissenting opinions

Please Don't flame me:pray:. I understand the very valid reasons for having big storage areas in vehicles. But I never liked huge saddlebacks and trunks in the Spyder for the single reason that it is the back of the Spyder what tells people that it is a motorcycle. The front looks a lot like a snowmobile/ATV. The back of the Spyder is really cool and "sporty" looking, especially with the sport rack. Adding the big "rear" makes the Spyder look a little like a three wheel ATV or like a weird car. Just an opinion:dontknow:.

Everybody likes his/her Spyder in a unique look, but it may useful to hear another perspective.

Enjoy whatever decision you take!

Wow .... that's nice. I know the E52 is a tight fit for two XL full. I think the E55 will do better. Hopefully they designed the mounting bracket to fit the multifunction sport rack instead.

Ooh, thanks for posting this. I've been on the look out for something that would hold two helments and this looks interesting. I would like to see a picture of a Spyder with one on, so if you find a pic or decide to buy one yourself I'd love to see it.

I would like to see this on a Spyder as well! I have been looking at many many trunks, and aside from the Corbin trunk, I think this one looks the nicest. It is also much more reasonable. I like the features of the tailights for additional lights, and the fact that it comes off the bike very easily, and has a quick disconnect bracket for the power to the lights. I believe it just slides off the power bracket that supplies the power to the lights. If you are traveling you could just slide it off and take it into your motel room, etc. It also is the only Givi box that now has hinges inside that will hold the lid open while you get stuff out of it. The other Givi trunks just have a cheap thin plastic strap to keep you from opening the lid too far.

It apprears to be a nice trunk for the money, and very large. I am just not sure if it will be too big.
The dimensions are: 23.25" wide. 18" deep and 12.5" high.

If anyone has any picts of this on a Spyder, please post!!

Here is the website for the best price I have found for the Givi E55 Maxia trunk. It shows different colors and options available. They also have "free shipping" on their Givi trunks!!

Maybe it'd be worth dropping an email to the company and see if they have gotten any pictures of it on a Spyder from their clients. If they have a Spyder compatible mounting bracket they had to test it on something...

Well, since you said "please" I just ran out with the camera.

This is the little sister - the Givi E52. Its mounted via the Givi E250 and a KewlMetal rack.
The photos are little grainy cause the sun set and I jacked up the ISO on my camera... too lazy to pull out the flash, but I think you get the idea. Yeah, its big and I love it!

Here's Givi's dedicated rack for the Spyder. Fits all their Monokey cases, including both Maxias (52L and 55L) It does require drilling/dremeling 4 oval holes in the plastic tailpiece. It is a VERY solid mount, and compliments the lines of the spyder when the bag isn't installed. Avoids the cobbled add-on look of the E250 plate, but means the Spyder tailpiece can't be used.
To each his own... I like mine very well. Recently added the padded backrest to the case, not pictured.

Excellent trunk. I added the liner which I think is well worth the money. Since I don't have a co-rider, I did not get the back rest but wish I had since it would give it a more finished look Also added the stop lights. Although they are not running lights, they are bright and get your attention. Probably with an add-on, I could convert them to running lights.

It's big but it fits the spyder well. Since I ride solo the rear Givi and front trunk holds all I need for a couple of overnighters.

Sorry for the link but I just can't seem to get an image posted here using Photobuckeet????

Hey! thanks a lot for taking and posting all your pictures!! I really appreciate it! It's sometimes hard to visualize what some things look like!
Now I have a better idea!

What happened to your front fenders?

Wow... That looks absolutely huge compared to my V46. Glad to know that the same mount I have works in case I want to upgrade.

That should fit two helmets easily.

I wanna know what's the story with your rear fender and license plate. Just a desired mod or did you have rear fender troubles?

Also, that stock muffler finish looks familiar. Mine had the black paint flaking off pretty bad. I sanded it all down and recoated it with some 1500 degree paint. It's holding up good so far this summer but I'll have to wait and see what the cold, snow and salt do to it.
