• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

For those of you with a Garmin GPS with lifetime North American maps. A new version (2023.1) was released on Feb 2.

Happy downloading.

So it sounds like most of you are using Garmin GPS. We have a new to us 2016 RTL. The previous owner kept the original gps, he did leave the mount on the Spyder. I thought I'd just get a new Garmin XT to replace the original. It looks like the new XT won't work, I was watching a U Tube video on it doesn't use the same mount. Anybody know anything about this or if it won't work what should I use?
Thanks,
Dwight

Can't answer your question without knowing what model the mount is for (or a picture of the mount).

Re: XT, If you buy one, make sure the battery stays charged. A friend and I just returned brand new XTs. Came dead and after 24 hr charge and no use for 2 days after, dead again. I stayed with 595.

I think your Spyder came with a 660 Garmin Zumo. There are plenty used and refurbished out there so you should be able to find one in the 200-300 dollar range.

The battery in the Zumo 590 I purchased in 2015 for my Spyder lasted about 3/4 of a year and then wouldn't charge more than about 75%. Garmin replaced the battery under warranty.

The only Zumo cradles I know of that are compatible with each other are the 590/595. IMO, one should remember that Garmin, like a number of other manufacturers, designs their Zumo GPSs from the ground up for at least one and probably a number of reasons that involve more than just the cradle and, therefore, if a later model GPS doesn't fit a previous design cradle one just has to pull on the big boy britches and deal with it.

I just bought a Zumo XT from Bestbuy yesterday. I charged it and installed all the updates. I will let it rest for a few days and check later to make sure that the battery stayed charged.

Thanks for the tip.
