• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. New Fuel Gauge Going Crazy

My original fuel gauge was unreadable right out of the box, it bounced around something terrible. They finally got me a replacement gauge and replaced it around 3,000 miles. That fixed my bouncing.

Until recently. At about 4,000 miles it started bouncing again, not bad but noticable. The bouncing has gotten steadily worse, I currently have about 4,600 and it is again getting pretty bad, still nowhere near as bad as the original gauge but I don't think it will be long before it is that bad.

Has anyone else seen this in their replacement gauge? While waiting for the new analog gauge I did disconnect them to get the digital ones, so I know all about that, but I like having the analogs I just want them to work properly.

TIA

I just had mine replaced for the second time. It is my understanding that there is not a "new" gauge but the replacements are the same part. There was a thread about this a few weeks ago and it seems that a few of us have had the gauge replaced more than once.

I am also having a problem with my second gauge. My dealer (florida motorsports) is ordering another one to be installed. I told them that I thought it might be a problem with the sending unit as I thought I remember something about that being a problem.
:gaah:

I'm having the same trouble with mine. It was replaced last year with the improved gauge.
The improved gauge started bouncing a few weeks ago. It's being replaced today with a 2012 design. I don't know what, if any, changes were made.

More and more people who are having this problem (and there are many) are simply disconnecting the analog gauges and having the bike revert to the much more accurate and reliable digital readouts on the Bike Screen..

The other most popular option is simply to ignore the gauge and buy gas by mileage readings (that was very widespread in an earlier thread since it doen't require any mechanical or technical skills)

I am also on my second guage. This time they replaced the senser and not the guage. It is not gyrating 50% of the gauge up and down--but still moves around. I am not happy with it.

Based on the number of complaints--I think that BRP does have a problem with the analog gauge.

I had thought of doing the fix of disconnecting the guages and letting the digitals take over. My dealer does not want to install other gauges in their place--because he is afraid of screwing up the electrics on the :spyder2:

The guages are an extra price option on some RT models--but I paid for them as standard equipment on the RT-s.

For $30K--we should be able to get a gas gauge that works. I would not recommend anyone purchasing this package as an added option to your RT.

One final rant: $30K and I can't get a :spyder2: with a gas gauge that works. :lecturef_smilie::lecturef_smilie::cus::cus:

Thanks for all of the replies, I'm still not happy about my fuel gauge but at least I feel better knowing that I'm not alone.

You know the old saying, misery loves company....

OK, I've had the second fuel gauge replacement.
The new one has been operational for 6 hours.

So far, ti doesn't bounce, and seems to take longer to get to the initial setting when the bike is first started.

That's all folks.

I'm cautiosly optimistic

Have the new (second replacement) gauge for a couple of days, about 350 miles.
Enough for a couple of tankfuls. Not only does this gauge remain rock steady, even through turns, but dare I say....................

Shhhhh------whisper, we don't want to jinx it...............
quiet now...................
(whisper) it may be more accurate.......maybe.

The previous gauge, the red gas warning light went on about 125 miles. I could ride to 150 miles and still put in less than 5 gallons.

This gauge, I've ridden 150 miles twice and no red light. I put in about 4.5 gallons, and 4.7 gallons.

As I said, I'm cautiously optimistic. .

I've had the new cluster to fix the PTT

Next I get the front end aligned properly with the new alignment tool ( due June 3rd) and the iridium spark plugs put in, and after that I just want to ride the bloody thing instead of working on it..
