• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hi all,

Just joined the forum and wanted to say hello to you all. We live in San Diego County, own an Aprilia (Mana/GT), Piaggio (MP3/500) and Vespa (LXV150) and looking to become more educated about the Spyder. Last time we visited the Long Beach Motorcycle show, we sat on the "touring" version and it seemed like a very nice ride. So please bear with us as we ask questions...inquiring minds want to know. :)

Hey Cruzr Joe,

Thanks for the response and definitely will do that.

  1. I see that the Spyder comes with a 5-speed manual (SM5) or 5-speed semi-automatic (SE5). Can you explain the difference and what do most forum members prefer?
  2. What do you love about the Spyder and what things do you think can be improved?

I have the Bronze RT Limited, semi auto transmission (SE 5) it is the one i prefer, i dont like a clutch, just a personal preference, if it was about speed and racing i would go for the clutch but, i am about comfort and ease of controls.

I like the stability and safety of the Spyder and my wife wont ride on a two wheeler, the RT has plenty of room for both of us with plenty of comfort, speed, room, good looks, the wind in our face, the knowledge that we have a quality machine that we are riding and enjoying. We enjoy all the people that come up to us and want to know about the Spyder.

Hope this answers some of your questions, good luck with what ever decision you make.

Hi Barry,

I'm in San Diego too (Poway). I just got my 2012 RS SE5 on Monday and have rode it back and forth to work every day this week. Perhaps I can offer a different perspective than some of the others. I'd be happy to help.
