• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New for 2013- Pics that tell all

What I want to know is if you have a higher post count than odometer reading? You blew by me in two years.
Yeah, he's gaining on me at a rapid pace, but my mileage still is lots higher than my count. We've got to get him a permission slip from home to attend some Spyder events...LOL.

How many blabbermouths can one site support? :roflblack:

BTW, thanks for the detailed pics. You know how much I love that kinda stuff!

yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I riding the heck out of my 08 rs so I can convince the wife to buy a used 2013 in a few years:yes::yes::clap::clap::bowdown:

I have only had mine for a few months and already have put on 5000 miles. How many miles do they last?

Way too darned many. But that's a great "problem" and way better than the alternative.

Info like this is worth so much more to a guy like me than any commercial or hype. Very pleased to have the opportunity to see those drawings, thank you! nojoke

That said... Couple of "I wonder" items...
  1. This looks like it "Might" cause more work in oil changes. True? False?
  2. By stiffening the frame in certain areas, will this translate into less overall vibration or require stronger mounts throughout the bike as the "Vibrations" must go somewhere...
  3. Will this "Calm" the belt harmonics/vibrations?
  4. Exhaust piping moved?
  5. Air inlet changes?
  6. Hot air removal changes?

I have more but it does not seem fair to ask :opps:

THanks Lamont

Thanks. The side by side comparison is excellent.

I'm not that aggressive a rider, so I'm pretty OK with the handling of my 2010.

A couple of questions please.

Are the electronics any better ? Can you plug the cell phone directly into the intercom system? That avoids all the bluetooth GPS issues.

Is the gas tank bigger ? Can you get more range out of the new frame design?

What is the advantage to moving the battery ?

Have they improved the OEM spark plug wires to match BajaRon ?

Have they redesigned the dogbone on the windshield mechanism ?

Thanks.

I don't mind answering a few questions but the last two is way to long of a list and some of them you're just going to have to wait and see, I don't have all the answers. Sorry :sour:

How about this one, as I am sure there are many that want to know.

How can I convince my wife into letting me buy a RT?

It looks like the rear motormount isolated from the frame by rubber. If so, is the front mouint also isolated?

as I still havn`t found someone for my wonderfull no-problems best-running .. 2010 RT -
could you wait with all this "whats better on the 2013 ST" stories ..:roflblack:

Thanks Lamont ! Now I'm getting interested !Changed engine mounts so it can take a 1200 ????? Just hit 35K and I think I'm starting to get engine vibration on the frame ?

How many blabbermouths can one site support? :roflblack:

Maybe I should be changed from a "Noisy Member" to "Blabbermouth"? :dontknow: :opps: Lamont; I'll let you use your best judgement in this call!

And no... The Odometer is trailing in the polls! marty_feldman.jpg

In my defense; I've had two truncated riding seasons, and Winter is a Loooong time to stare out the window with a keyboard in front of you! ;)

Thanks for the pictures Lamont. It really helps non technical persons like myself understand the differences between our Spyders and the 2013 models.

Hey Lamont thanks for the update...it only took Harley 85 years to adjust the vibration on their bikes...BRP 6 years and they figured it out wow. It is truly amazing what the engineers at BRP are doing already with the Spyder. Just as an example they didn't put a huge motor in the Chevy Camaro to start just a small 350, now years later you see way bigger power some as high as 600hp. They have proven that the frame and handling and brakes can handle a motor of that size, I think this is what Brp is doing with the new frame. They have a frame(new design) they have the breaking and now the new front end. In time lets hope for a bit more power....one can dream cant he:yes::yes:

The RS pilots out there will have to take up the reins on this one...
But here's my best guess! :opps:
Since there's been a complete change in the engine and controls; probably nothing that hooks to those components will swap over... :gaah:
Frame and suspension changes :gaah:
Brakes? :dontknow: If you also change to the larger wheels...
