• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

new experince for a long time rider

Thanks Andy,
Sometimes; our perspective can narrow our viewpoint...
The Medical field is a completely different "animal"; no doubt about that!
I'm always watching for breakthroughs in the inulin pump/blood glucose monitoring. :2thumbs:

I think yall are forgetting that Andy called to buy a fuel door from them... its their right not to sell if they see fit.. but after all he might have been a customer if he was treated kindly...
and there is almost NOTHING on this earth that is an ABSOLUTE EXCLUSIVE.. someone else makes it.. it just might be something for vendors to keep in mind...

If you need a part for a component on an automobile that is only sold as a fully assembled component do you really expect that they will tell you where they purchase that part from?

Sure knowledge of how to do something is shared freely in many fields. To put this back in the medical field, yes, you can find reports on how new and improved procedures are done. But try calling one of the pharmaceutical companies and asking them how to produce one of their newest medicines. I'm pretty sure that you will find that there is proprietary information at work there as well.

I doubt we could walk into a Kentucky Fried Chicken, compliment the flavor, and get the ingredients and amounts they use for their "11 herbs and spices" . . . as for folks sharing information, here, that is a very different situation than a business giving out its secrets . . . I have to side with Ultimate Seats on this one. Wish I could afford one!

You will love it

Bob, you will love that Ultimate seat, and the Missus will as well, in fact she will love it, and you for buying it, you may as well stop saving, and get her an early Christmas Present:yes::yes:. That way when it's freezing out this winter you will have something nice to sit on when yay are sent to the Garage!:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Here's just one more thought on this.

Let's say they answered the question, and then the consumer went and bought the wrong version (or maybe it just doesn't fit right with the seat they already have), and called for help or to complain about being given bad info.

Let's say that the door also requires part X to properly keep it from leaking, or to attach it.

A part in an existing product is a component of an interconnected whole, and there's no telling where a customer will draw the line not only in asking for more information and help, but also in blaming the company if things don't work our as planned. That's also part of the reason they likely don't sell just the door - it may not work as well for you as it does for them, and it opens them up to having to stand behind something they don't sell. If they sold me a seat, and I had an issue, I'm sure they would be there to help me. I'm also sure they are expert at that. They aren't in the business of selling parts, and if they went into it then they would be opening up big headaches that would likely cost them far more in support than they profit on the item.

The customer who would be upset that they don't share their vendor information is also the one likely to complain back to the company if things don't go as the planned, and far more loudly.

fuel door

There is a great shop in Albany Oregon , that will supply and install one for $250.00 , Mr. Ed's Moto Custom Seats .

fuel door

Nuff said, I am treading in unfamiliar territory and my apologies to Ultimate.

However this is NOT my style : "The customer who would be upset that they don't share their vendor information is also the one likely to complain back to the company if things don't go as the planned, and far more loudly".

I wouldn't have known that from reading your initial post, and I don't think that the vendor would have known that either. Given your background, perspective, and additional comments, I now have little doubt that you wouldn't be that person. Still, in my experience as a business owner, I stand my generality as the generality that it is (knowing that there are many exceptions as well).

GAS DOOR ON SEAT WITH PICS

:yikes:...Well Andy heard a rumor that I had done one and He reached out to me about it. I sent Him to where He could easily find it ( I can't do links yet ). So I hope this helps Him in His quest for a much less expensive alternative ( about $ 20 )............Bob , I'm surprised you didn't tell Him about it ????????......Mike
