I could actually sneak up on you and you wouldn't know it. The 3rd generation brake pads are so quiet that dogs no longer howl when I hit the brakes.
I had had the 12,000 mile service done and the service guy said that I only had 20% left on the rear pad and 30% on the front. Decided to change them myself (hubby helped). Come to find out they exaggerated the amount of wear :shocked: it was more like I had 70 to 80% left. That said I am still glad that I changed them just to get rid of the squealing.
The rear pads included new caliper bolts but for some reason they don't include them with the fronts. So save yourself a trip to the hardware store and buy new bolts before you tear it apart.
