• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New Battery

Okay, here I go again. I have always changed my batteries at three years regardless. I do this as I don't wish to get caught in the west Texas areas I ride.....little traffic, no cell service in some areas and who wants a dead battery in west Texas. I do this in my vehicles also. Some won't agree and as posted are good at keeping their batteries going for years. I just don't trust them that long. Each to their own.
Pleas don't argue with me.....I am 84, going on 85, and I don't listen to much....

:spyder2:

Stay away from Chinese made batteries or Taiwan. It's a crap shoot they will last and warranty, good luck. Stay with a made in USA battery. I learned my lesson a few times on off brand batteries for other equipment and most failed in 1 to 2 years even on a maintainer. Batteries +, not cheep but stand behind there products if your looking for service after the sale. Most stores will give 10% off also if you ask. Ours does and thats with the discount coupon also.

Lithium battery

Where did you get it from?
Are they as small and light as we keep hearing?

Hi Bob,

YES and yes. Smaller and don't weigh but a pound or two. I've had one in my V-Max for 4 or 5 years ( on a maintainer over the winter). Works perfectnojoke

+1 for the Odyssey PC 680

I replaced my OEM after 6yrs with the Odyssey PC 680 and it's doing great. My Spyder sits for several weeks w/o running sometimes and it fires right up. Most of my rides are 60 miles or more so I feel I'm charging it OK. I put a charger on it once and it showed fully charged after just a few minutes.

Bought it at Batteries Plus for just a few $$ more than online. If something does go wrong I can walk it back in there for adjustment. Hopefully also with no hassles.
:sour:

YMMV
