• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Need to modify driver's seat on 2023 RTL - anyone made theirs comfortable?

I had Mean City Cycle redo my Harley seat with memory foam. Now with the Spyder I need to mod the seat. I ride 100 miles and my butt is sore.
Who has found a way to make the newer model seats on the RT's comfortable?

Call motorcycledave.com at (209) 887-3283 and he will fix you up. He can either rebuild your seat for you; or sell you a gel pad you can install yourself. I chose the gel pad, put it in myself, and never looked back.

:agree: .....His GEL inserts have helped quite a few folks here ......Mike

There are gel pads, beads, air hawk air cousins, sheep skin covers, and on and on, but at the end of the day, there's only one butt that can tell you what you need and that's your butt! We have all had your problem at one time or another and come up with a solution that made it better for us! Good luck in your search for a happy butt!!:coffee:

I use an air cushion (Airhawk or Wildass). Works great for my long days in the saddle and costs 5 times less than a custom seat that may or may not solve your problem.

Another, local, option for you. Check with a local upholsterer. Chances are they have done a bike or two. Or more. It will save a lot of money on shipping a seat to, and from. Tom :spyder:

Some will sit you a little higher than others, some will settle into the seat after a while. The gel pad insert is imbedded into your seat. Go onto Motorcycle Daves website, I think he has a video or pictures. If you have any questions, he's just a phone call away and a great person to talk to!!

Have a Russell Day-Long on my BMW 1600, best invest I made riding motorcycle. I plan to send my seat to them this winter to built me a seat for my 2024 RTL. Costly, but outstanding investment.

Another vote for a Russell Day long. I own 5 street bike with a Day Long, and over 30 years. Not cheap, but you only do it once IMG_4115.jpg

That is the one thing I am trying to avoid... I poured so much into my 12 FLH , that I will never get back. It is something that being retired and on a fixed income one must prioritize.
I appreciate your comment as I look for my best cost effective alternative.

Yep, that is completely understandable, NoTyme - but... you can try OEM mods, buttbuffers, Airhawk, gel inserts, aftermarket, and still not find something that works FOR YOU, as these are all “one-size-fits-all” options, and as you know, we are not all the same size, with the same pain thresholds. If you have the time and inclination to try all these options, and sell the options that don’t work, that’s great, but don’t forget that you may still not have a solution after you have finished.

The only way to guarantee a solution that works all day, from the beginning, is to shell out for a custom-built seat from the likes of Russell Daylong or Seth Laam, who “guarantee” all day comfort. I now factor a Daylong in to all my new bike purchases. Daylong have not let me down on my last 5 bikes. I realise this option may be too expensive for you, but all the other options are “suck it and see”. You never know though; you might indeed get lucky and find that elusive product that fits you

Can you tell me if it raised you higher in the seat. I am hoping to not sit higher if possible.
No it did not because the instructions Dave included showed how to cut a pocket in the foam so you sit the same. He also included a razor knife.

After 100 miles or so, stop, get off, and walk around, kick the tires for few minutes, and then get back on and ride. Repeat as often as needed. Keep your fixed income in the wallet....
