• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

need some help

Dropped it off

Just dropped the spyder off at dealer for the exhaust and they are going to check the adjustment of the belt. I hope this turns out better this time only time will tell.

I would still get a Krikit II and check the belt adjustment once they are done with it. Cheap insurance and you'll know right away if the belt is adjusted correctly instead of finding out when something goes wrong.

That's what I told to service manager I was going to do. He went on some long talk about how brp does not approve to use of such tool.....bs bs bs. :gaah: I can fix what ever they cant so it will turn out fine!

Krikit II Belt Tension Gauge

Maybe not total 'BS' on the dealer's part. The Krikit is not designed to work with the belt on our Spyder and BRP wants the dealerships to purchase their buku bucks, sonic unit. I wouldn't necessarily expect a dealership to know that, regardless of what the Krikit was designed to do, it works very well with our Spyder belts, (some say as well as the high dollar BRP sonic unit).

With the relatively wide tension spec. which BRP recommends for the belt, it isn't all that critical to be 'Exactly Right' anyway.

I know

I know your right...frustrated with the dealer. It is a cool little tool and under $15...

When you're dealing with the average dealership, you have to get your 'Dealer' glasses on and tune your ears for 'Dealer-speak'. I know it's frustrating but you'll work through this.

Don't buy this one, it's the wrong unit. Krikits come in 3 versions. One is too light, one is too heavy, and one is just right (where have I heard this before?).

This is the model that you want.

They all look the same. It's the calibration range that is critical.

Actually, they aren't all exactly alike. One model (Krikit-I?) has a flange on one side. You don't want that one, you want one of the flat-bottom units. The Krikit-II (KR2) is correct if you get yours from NAPA.

True, they are not exactly the same. But to the unsuspecting they look very similar and some have purchased the wrong one not realizing they come in different versions.

I believe they are all made by the same, (probably Chinese) company and marketed under different brand names. As long as you get part # 91132 you're in good shape.

dealer called

:yikes: dealer called me yesterday and told me with after market pipe on it brp was not going to warranty out the exhaust.....he also told me they would try to fix it for free because of past issues which is a great step in right direction. So they called me back today and gave me great news....brp will cover it!!!!! they are also going to adjust the belt for free and fix noise from the front end. So as of now this dealer has put a great effort into fixing my spyder......

Thanks, sound like an inexpensive tool to throw in the tool box in case I need it one day.

stopped by the dealer

Stopped by the dealer today and they told me it will be ready Wednesday. They are installing new pipe, adjusting belt again, and they said the noise from the front end was the bolts on the sway bar end links were lose. Can't wait until Wednesday, hope its fixed........miles will tell and it should be warmer this weekend! :ohyea:

got the call

:lecturef_smilie: dealer called me today at 1:00 and I became very excited, they told me Monday it would be done today! Well looks like there is a boat and rv.show and they pulled the tech of my spyder to go to the show and then they told me they have to many apt coming in today to get to my spyder.....:banghead::banghead::banghead:!!!! I really don't like this dealer...I can not believe they told me that they were taking in bikes ahead of mine,,, blow some smoke up my butt, tell me you can not get to it because the earth is spinning backwards. ...well enough venting I hope they will have it done tomorrow!

picking it up

The dealer called me and told me my spyder is done:clap:. The service manager apologized for being so short staffed and not getting to it yesterday. So this is what they did....replaced exhaust pipe ....had lose nuts on the front sway bar end links that were making noise. ...we will see on that one.....adjusted the belt that they just did 4000 miles ago and found and fixed a hose clamp that was leaking coolant. He also was going to dealer the spyder to me if my work was local...... so right now I feel they are really trying to turn the corner with all the bad service I have had. Only time will tell but right now I can say they are trying.

back to the dealer

So first ryde after I picked it up and the front popping noise is still there and even louder....so back to the dealer after I get off work.:lecturef_smilie: its kind of funny and you have to laugh about it. Way be some new end links will fix it!

round 2 or 3

Another good story from my dealer. I have taken my spyder back to the dealer and have called 3 times with not one call back or the guy you need to talk to is not here. The owner's win had a fall last Monday and I do not expect him to call and I hope the best for him and his wife!!!!! So I took it back today for the front end noise that is really bad to let them see and hear it. Service manager was on the phone so I wanted and heard this from the service manager. ....why do you keep doing this.... he was talking to me and not very happy! Looks like brp called to see why they were not done when they promised.... he then went on to tell me how they have bent over backwards for me now the spyder is still not fixed after a week of no calls from them. He told me I need to find a new dealer to work on it, which I do!!!!!!! Then he told me that in 2 weeks I can get it in but because I called brp it WILL AFFECT MY SERVICE........I could not believe what I was hearing!!!! So I think I will take my spyder to work and find the noise...I think it is a simple sway bar link.....so that is my story not to happy with the dealer or the service manger but what can you do... I can always put an aftermarket sway bar kit on it...:2thumbs:
