• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. I need you're guys opinions on Corbin bags and BRP bags.If you had it to do over again would or wouldn't you buy them.I love the look of the Corbins but have read of some problems with them.

Thanks in advance!

Corbin Fleetliner

I have only had a spyder since Mid Oct 2011, and it "came" with corbin fleetliners. I love the look and the storage, no doubt, however, I am not super pleased with the locks, they do not secure well. That being said, I am hoping to talk to corbin at Spyderfest (if they are there), and have the locks looked at and hopefully fixed. For the list price, I would have expected the locks / securing to be a little better. Having gotten mine with the spyder, I can only speculate as to what led to the current condition.

 Love the Corbin hard bags, they complete the :spyder2:, tons of storage. I had trouble with the locks as well but with a little adjustment they lock great. I think Lamont has a post of how to adjust the locks .

First off I have the GIVI bags sold by BRP. I have had this brand of bag on several two wheel bike and now the RS Spyder. I have never had an issue but some have had a problem getting them off of the frame on the bike. It is a bit tricky and you have to watch out by overdoing the lube which catches grit etc. Also they have never leaked in the rain. At Maggie Valley owners event there were at least two folks complaining about leaks in the Corbin's. This is not generally an issue with the Corbin's just mentioning it. Keep in mind they are both quality products with a very different style and attachment system. also keep in mind there are two different types of bags, those that leak and those that will leak! I always use a black plastic garbage bag to wrap my clothes to just be sure.

I would go again with Corbin, they are design for the Spyder RS nojoke
They could not fix the leak after 3 tries and replace both bags.:firstplace:

I have the Givi(BRP) sides and the V46 Givi top case. Never a leak. Love that I can take them off and be sporty as well just carry them to my room if I'm at a hotel.

The only issues with the Givi's is that they should have designed in a lock cover to keep the grit out of the locks from rain... It isn't a big deal, and have only had them get picky on me once on one trip. As long as I flush them once a year with lube, and use a dry film lube safe for plastic they are trouble free.

The Givis also tend to have their cords that prevent the cases from opening past 90 degrees break out and a little epoxy fixes that... Again, not a big deal.

Nancy has the BRP version of the GIVI bags. They are great! We really like the removable bags and the removable brackets. Very versatile. For comparison the Corbing bags/brackets are not quickly removable. The other major difference is that the Corbin bags are top-loading and the Givis are clamshell type side-loaders. Because my BMWs have clamshell bags, I am used to those, but Harley riders are generally used to the other. For the Givi bags (either version), the turn signals have to be relocated. Parts are provided for this purpose. If you purchase the Givi or BRP bags, don't forget to purchase the correct color inserts. The bags look funny without them, and the reflectors are held on by the inserts.

Agree about the GIVI/BRP hard bags. Had them on my 09 RS (or GS, whatever) and really liked them. No leaking and easy on and off features.

I have had both flavors of equipment.

Put Givi bags on both RS's, and had Corbin fairings, and Fleetliner travel trunks on the RS's also.

I had no problems with either the Givi or the Corbin--except for the locks. For the money, they are very cheap and unsatisfactory IMO.

Looks wise, the Corbins outdo the Givi as far as saddle bags go--also more room in the Corbins.

Corbin was having some on again, off again problems with quality and customer service. I have not seen any posting about these issues for some time now.

Budget wise--the Givi's are about half the price of the Corbin's.

I would not rate one better than the other. IMO: its the look you want and how much you are willing to pay.

Ive had the Givi's but settled on the Corbin's. Looks wise Corbin is perfect- hate the locks and price. No problem though- because they were so much I don't have anything of value to secure in them!

Cases

After experimenting with nylon saddlebags, I installed a Coocase S-48 on the aluminum luggage rack. The case is used during the week and can hold 2 full size helmets, has remote lock/unlock and an alarm built in.
On weekends, the rack comes off and the backrest goes on. Wonderful setup because I get the best of both worlds. If riding solo, I can add the saddlebags and a Kuryakin Grand Tour bag for plenty of storage.

Givi side bags great way to go...made for the bike and look better than any other option, IMHO. I did put a larger Givi...I think it's the 47L case on the back of the bike...nice addition and can hold a lot of goodies...put a light bar in for it and it works as a brake light...so more visibility for that too...

If you want to build something up yourself, a few other suggestions. Something cheap, Pelican...all kinds of sizes(ugly, strong and enviromentally sealed. Suzuki V-strom 1000(not the 650) luggage, a good look and fairly large.
