• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

first problem is road the bike for awhile tonight when i stop and shut it off it seems to take awhile to restart after several tries it will all of a sudden start.

2. i have my mud flap lights tied into front fender tips when i step on the brake they become dim. I should mention i have the triple play in the rear and should both those resisters be plugged in or are you suppose to remove the one thats plugged in and plug the other one in.

start issue resolved loose relay. :ohyea::ohyea::ohyea:

I hope its fixed cause then i tried to start it again and heard like a whistle after pushing the start button. did not start then i sat on the bike turned key off the let it cycle press mode button till temp showed then released pushed start button and it fired up. 2 questions 1. do you have to be sitting on the bike for it to start. 2 should the parking brake be on or the brake pedal be stpped on in order for it to start?

No need to sit on it, as far as I know. Like HDX said, "not ours". With an SE, you may need to push on the brake, but that might be only if you left it in gear. I am ignorant in the ways of the SE, I'm afraid.

You heard a whistle because the bike was still in gear when you hit the start button.. If you would have engaged the brake a little it would have started.

funny things happen when you shut the bike off in gear. Here's a few i have experienced.
if it's in 1st gear and you shut the kill switch the bike will still display first gear, not neutral(but the tranny does go into neutral).. than turn the kill switch on step on the brake and start it, it will display neutral and should be in neutral not first when you shut it off. If you shut the key off in first gear (not the kill switch) and turn the key back on ,push m sometimes it will still be in first gear but most times goes back to neural..
If you "stall" the bike in first gear, hit the brake and hit the starter it will still be in first gear and you can blast out of the way of traffic. This happened to me twice:cus:

I recently bought a slightly used 2009 SE5. Last weekend while out on a ride, we made a stop & I couldn't get my Spyder to start. The console powered up when I turned the key but that's it. I had "NOT" brought the transmission back to neutral prior to shutdown. No matter what I tried, I couldn't get it back into neutral & nothing else was happening. At some point I stepped on the brake & pushed the start button. It started right up. I haven't checked the manual yet but I believe this is a safety feature.

Good Luck,

ya, but when you hit the brake it fired up and displayed neutral.:2thumbs: From my experiences no matter what it displays after shutdown it's actually in neutral but sometimes it doesn't register in the display ""mainbrain" of the spyder.
sometimes i hit the shift paddle 4 or 5 times to get that neutral to appear on the display and it dont show up.. im used to it now, so it doesn't bother me at all anymore.

Yes, that is a built in feature of the SE5 units. They will not start in 1st gear without your foot on the brake. With your foot on the brake it switches it back to neutral when you start it. This is the main brake, as the parking brake has no effect on it starting or not.

Even though the dealer told me about it, and I read it, I found myself stuck on the side of the road one time for 10 minutes trying to figure out why the dang thing wouldn't start. Of course it turned out to be self inflicted by my ignorance.
