Need help transporting my STS to Las Vegas in January

Company closed and I'm out of a job. Being force to move from Pittsburgh to Las Vegas in January.
It will be too cold to ride so I have to Trailer or find a Transport.
I have sent a request to U-Ship but no replies. Does anyone know of a
trailer that I can rent for towing the STS?
UHaul has a dual axle 6X12 trailer that has no
ramp. It looks to be too big to tow with my Hyundai Tucson. Are there any
other renters of trailers?
I'm in a quandry and need some advice from the fellow riders.:banghead:
Thanks, David C.

Sorry to hear you have to move, but I think you will like it here. I used a 26 foot Penske truck to haul 2 bikes and a quad when I moved here from PA 3 years ago. It wasn’t exactly allowed but I did it. You could haul your car behind the truck.

You could buy a reasonably priced utility trailer maybe 6x10 and pull it with your Tucson. The utility trailers are pretty light.

Transporting to Las Vegas

Hi
here is an idea, years ago I transported my Gold wing and a 750K model to
Daytona from San Francisco we were going to Bike Week and didn't want to ride the
entire way there and back, I rented a 6X12 UHaul open trailer and it worked just fine
HOWEVER I needed more places to tie the bikes down so where I needed the tie downs
I drilled holes in the floor and put strong "I bolts in the floor with a big flat washer they call
fender washers under... and used lock washers and double nutted it. That worked great
in that case I rented it as a local use and returned it to the place I got it after removing the Ibolts.
You could just rent it for a oneway use and drop it in Las Vegas.
Good Luck have fun and enjoy the Las Vegas weather....

I bought an old tilt bed trailer for $400 bucks to haul back to Tennessee when I didn't have time to ride there and back. So far it has continued to work for me for 8 years now,but I know I could still sell it for what I paid for it. I pull it with a Chevy Equinox.

Here's a thought. We did this on the VentureRider website for members and it worked out well. Set up a relay between members who have trailers capable of hauling your Spyder and relay to Vegas.

Hmmm, Pittsburgh PA to Las Vegas, what's that, about 2500 miles or so? So maybe 5 days travelling?? Are the roads likely to be snow covered or is it just cold.... but not freezing?? I wonder what a cheapie airline ticket from Aust to Pittsburgh would cost in January? And would ryding/travel costs be any cheaper than buying/renting a trailer & towing costs?? But how would I explain it to the Doctors - AND the Missus?!? :dontknow:
Dammit, my ponderings just run away with 'not quite possibilities' sometimes! :gaah:

Ahh well, hope you get it sorted!

trailer renting needs

Look at a local Tractor Supply Store if you have one near you. They have a 6X10 aluminum trailer with ramp for rent down here in the Southern States, that will fit your need and work with you tow vehicle ! You may need to put a short 2x6 board up next to the rear gate where your front wheel drive up on the trailer, this gets your front end of the Spyder up so the nose won't hit the trailer gate! Hope this helps!

That would be okay for a local rental but I don't think they rent their trailers on one way trips.

Towing my Spyder

Hey everyone, Thanks for the ideas and inspiration.
I have yet to find a trailer. I'm still looking. No answers on UShip.:banghead:
I'm thinking seriously about putting the Spyder in storage and coming back to PA for a fly and ride to Vegas later in the summer.
Cheers, David C.

Long Haul Trucking

I use to have a friend that long hauled from Me, to Ca all the time. It's to bad you didn't know anyone in the area that did that, they often times have space on board for more cargo.

Fly And Ride

I store it till warmer weather. Then Fly and Ride the SPYDER. My 2:yes::yes::yes::yes: Little Blue

That fly and ride is a great idea, depending on the time you have. I did the northern route to NY from Las Vegas last August and it was wonderful. I will be flying to PA the end of March if you can’t get away from your new job, I may be able to ride it back for you. PM me.
