• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Can anyone help me in identifying this circular part on my Spyder and tell me what it is used for? I took the saddlebags off to give her a good washing and noticed the piece...it is threaded, so i'm wondering if i'm supposed to have something connected there. Didn't see it in the manual. I attached 3 pix...1 close up, 1 zoomed out more, & 1 even more panned out to see where on the bike the part goes. I have a 2013 ST LTD.

BTW...i'm referring to the circular hole in the 1st image.

Is that in a fixed mounting osition, or can it pivot downward?
If it pivots; you might get a clue by moving it around to see what it gets nearest to!

Hi Bob...it is in a fixed position.

Rattigan_Roger may have a point as I know many of the parts on the Spyder are universal. For instance, I have all 4 spaces for switches on my ST, but the ST only uses 2 spaces (Parking Brake switch, Heated grips switch) and it is my understanding that the other 2 "blanks" are where the RT has the ride adjustment switch and something else (can't remember right now). Since the piece is actually welded to the frame of the bike, this may be a case of a universal frame being used on all models, but only the RT uses this "hole" for a mounting point of the position sensor on the RT. This is purely conjecture on my part until someone with more knowledge than I comes along to correct the error of my ways :clap:
 
It is where the ACS sensor link is attached when that swingarm is used on an RT that has the automatic suspension feature.
 
Take off the tail pan piece, above the rear tire. There are 5 wiring harness connectors not connected to anything. 3 of them are for the air ride system that are not an option on an ST.

Funny, I was looking over my ST-S yesterday wondering what was missing too. lol
 
Having never ridden a motorcycle before, I'm not sure I need the heated grips. Foglights sound cool...but look expensive.
 
the first time you ride and it is colder than usual you will regret not getting the heated grips...get them...we have ridden when it is down to 20 dgrees and the heated grips made a world of difference..

Can't remember who or in which post I saw it, but someone replied to a comment of mine about the spongy feel of the ride in turns when riding 2-up and he said the ST is fully wired for the air suspension of the RT and he has modded his ST with an airbag (using the same blank switch spot that is used for the air ride adjustment on the RT) to adjust his ride stiffness. I found this extremely intriguing and want to eventually do this mod, having seen pix of his successful project.

I really love my ST, but wish they incorporated some of the options of the RT in My ST Limited. Just last week I discovered when riding an RT that there is this cool compartment right in front of where the rider's crotch would be. I opened it by mistake, and was instantly envious. I don't want to cover my bike with a tank bag, so this little compartment would be perfect for stashing little items...and could've totally been added to the ST Limited as there is space in the same location. First I stumble on the RT adjustable windshield...now this hidden cubby hole. What next...does the RT have a special hovercraft button to ride over bodies of water and other unsavory terrain?

Since I wouldn't trade my ST for anything in the world, I guess the solution is to start saving my pennies for a future RT to add to my Spyder family:clap:
 
I have the new warp core and the optional cloaking device. Only problem with the cloaking device is it seems to stay on all the time while riding. I think I'm going to remove it and go with the comfort seat. I have four switches, heated grips, fog lights, parking brake/frunk release and ride adjustment. The middle space, I believe, is for LTDs with CB.

Correct sir!

My switch bank is full I have,

parking break/wife ejector, trunk release

heated grips high or low, I only have one set of grips I assume these are the high ones as that works. Never found the low grips or where there supposed to go.

Rear suspension adjustment.

Fog lights, they work when it not foggy as well :dontknow:

the center switch is used for the wired head set socket

in the glove box I have switches from q branch.

smoke, oil, machine guns, bullet proof rear plate, rotating number plates etc, oh wait no that's my db5.
