There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. My DDH left the ignition key in our Spyder and killed the battery. We want to charge it up again, but honestly we can't figure this out- we know we need a 2 amp charger, which we bought, its a trickle one? does anyone have any helpful hints or links so we can figure out how to connect the charger and what to do with it? We are complete noobz!

Charger un plugged.
Expose the battery in the front compartment and place the plus on plus(red on plus) and minus on minus(black on minus).
Plug in charger.
Overnight should do it.

Your charger is adequate to get you out of the current trpuble but it is not the kind of charger you want to use as a maintainer in the winter.
It probably would do more harm than good.

Leaving the KEY in the ignition should not have done anything to the system ......Unless it was in the ON position !!!!....was that the case ???? ..... and you might want to try and exchange that 2 amp charger for a battery maintainer....it will be a lot more useful.........jmho......Mike

The trouble with most "maintainer" battery chargers is they won't charge a dead battery, they need to see some voltage to work. A better choice would be one that has a 2, 6 and 10 amp charge rate and a small battery tender or similar maintainer for the winter.

All of the above...

But really..? In Maui you would need a maintainer/tender..? :roflblack: I don't use one here...and we are not a tropical climate...:lecturef_smilie:

Which one Roger?

There is no reason to change your battery just because it's winter. I personally like a Battery Tender (that is a brand name, not a device) and have been using them since I ran across them back in the 90's. IF I'm not riding, I have a Batter Tender on it, that includes my boat, and my car which ish't used much. Over time I've learned that this habit has extended the life of my batteries from 4 years to 7 years. As I said, I prefer the Battery Tender as I have also learned that they stand behind their products, but, any decent battery maintainer device should work as well. I have a pig tail attached to my battery connection, and it is a simple task to just hook up the maintainer when I park.

:agree::agree::agree: ..... My best friend has battery MAINTAINERS ON every battery He owns ......and often gets 12 + years on Auto / trk use batteries .......Once you let the internals of a battery get damaged it effects it's life permanently....jmho.....Mike

Do you have any suggestions what we should get? We are coming to the mainland next year to do a major road trip and attend Spyderfest, and don't want to be caught dead on the road?

BATTERY TENDER PLUS

My 2013 RT-S already had a pigtail Installed when I bought It, I also use a Battery Tender Plus, works great..

.....Hi, BLUEKNIGHT911 back...........the OEM Yuasa is a very good Brand of battery, any battery MUST have proper maintenance to last......Some have gone to Lithium -Ion because they weigh about 2.6 lbs in our size Walmart sells ( or can get you on-line order ) from Deltran ( a good brand also ) part # BTL 24A360c ........It really DOES NOT need a SPECIAL MAINTAINER , however you do need to read what type will work with a Lithium Battery.........Mike

Jump start the Spyder and then take it for a nice 45 minute ride and the battery should charge itself
