• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Need a replacement radio antenna.

I live in an area that does not get great reception as it is so i want to replace with something premium that will actually improve the reception. The wal mart seems about the same as stock just shorter? i have a 15 and no problems with the length of the stock one now, just that is sucks. my car which has no vertical antenna gets better reception.

as a side not how hard is it to get to and replace the front speakers on an RT?

Boy I tell you... Tough crowd!

You should be grateful someone did a video showing how to do it rather than complain about how well they did the video! :banghead:

The gall of some people to complain of something they got for free that can help you. :lecturef_smilie:

Maybe you should do your own video and lets see how well you do!

If you have a " DEEP " 7mm socket...slide it down the antennae, put vise grips on it and remove it.....clean the threads of the excessive " thread locker ", then put only one drop at the very top of the threads and screw it back in......this may improve your reception......On the speaker thing, I re-placed mine with JBL 2-ohm model's, and actually got 5 1/4 in. into the rear to re-place the smaller OEM's........I paid about $ 125.00 for all four....Bob finless did a video on the front ones ( very nice Bob ) and " beadaholic "posted some for the rear........I would honestly say My stereo can play 50% louder with 100 % better quality than the OEM speakers...........Mike

Replacement antenae 2013 spyder ST limited

My was broken at a hotel while traveling. Bought a new one but was able to fix the old one. Unscrew the brass end from the base. Drill out the fiberglass piece and then very carefully cut the end off the broken antenna and replace back in the brass piece with epoxy. Works great.:yes:

Sounds good but what did you do about the wire in the antennae. If you cut off the end/drill out the fiberglass don't you disconnect wiring for the antennae?

Antenna install

I installed the same antenna from Walmart as the video demo shows. It took me maybe 15 minutes. Once the threaded pieces were together and installed, I pushed the boot over the end of the antenna (no drilling or cutting needed-it is rubber) and left just enough room to screw the antenna in place. Then it was pushing the boot the rest of the way down and inserting in place. A small flathead screwdriver, used carefully, helped get it in place. Wish my other projects went so smooth. It had great reception in the garage. On the road?? Time will tell.
