Neck support?

Folks,
my wife has an old neck injury (disc) and she has said that when I get the RT-S up to about 60-65, the wind/vibration starts to hurt her neck a bit from the helmet movement.
Does anyone know of any good neck support systems that can help out (I know there are systems for dirt bikes, but not really sure how they work.
She would just like something to go around her neck that is adjustable and help support the helmet.
Anyone have any experience with this stuff??

but race car drivers now wear something like that. But even one of those beady neck pillows for travel could help out. Just need a way to secure the front so it won't blow off...:dontknow:

personally i think anything she tries with a helmet on is going to be too big

I'd start with a doctor first or physical therapist. I certainly wouldn't want to make any suggestion that could make the condition worse.

I injured my neck in 1987, and the physical therapist gave me some neck exercises to help strengthen the muscles. Also shop for the lightest-weight helmet she can find.

I have neck problems. C5 and C6 disc removed and fusion. I find that when I wear a heavy full face or modular helmet my neck hurts. What I have found that works for me are Shoei Brand helemts.
I wear a 3/4 helmet on most summer days. For cold weather riding wear a shoei full face helmet. I find Shoei helmets are the lightest weight helmets and have SNELL rating.
You pay for them but not as much as Arai helmets. The price for me is worth it because I can ride pain free all day.
When I ride as passenger and my wife is riding, I find that there is more wind as passenger.I would have a chat with a physiotherapist as to what to do.

I think a course of action is a combination of the responses above. Check specs on lighter helmets, and look at taller aftermarket windshields.

get yourself an F4 windshield. there are several different sizes to choose from.

my wife loves it since I added the F4 no matter what speed we are running. :clap:

if the passenger sits taller on the Spyder than the driver, the passenger will get wind turbulence, see if you can configure seats/cushion or whatever to equal it out or get the passengers head lower than the driver.

My wife had the same problem. She got a 4" neck brace. The kind made out of foam rubber and covered with cloth. She got a very light "beanie" helmet, and wears ear plugs. She also went to the physical therapist--6 times. All fine now.

get a vented windshield

F4 sells a vented windshield that is taller and wider than the OEM RT stock windshield. In one of the very few times we have ridden 2-up, she commented that the turbulence was much less with the vented windshield that the previous windshield.
