• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My wife hates my new helmet :(

LS2 Spitfire WWII Bomb Rider tribute helmet. I think it looks kick ass. She really doesn't know about how some WWII bombers were painted. Shield still has protective cover on it :)

You gotta do what you gotta do. If the wife is going to get upset over it, just send it back. Happy wives are much better than unhappy ones.

For an argument for...Watch Top Gun. They all had painted helmets. And from the 50's' Bridges at Toko Ri. And a true classic for painted airplanes...Twelve O'Clock High

PS. i like the helmet, but was never in the service, so would feel out of place wearing one. The people at my church may not like it either. I know Linda would be offended.

I think I just came up with the proverbial "three strikes" for me.

Ha .. Not gonna send it back, it's just a helmet. I get it wouldn't be acceptable in today's military. We're retired and kids are raising their own kids. She's getting over it :)

It's got to go. The longer you wait, the worse it's going to get. Just do it. A wife is more important that the graphic on a helmet. And you'll live longer too!

I agree and my wife said "it is the right thing to do". ......:shemademe_smilie:

Just my take on it Troop, if wifey has a problem with your nose art helmet, that's not the only problem she has. Incidentally, I think it is great and anyone from the greatest generation ever, would not have a problem with it at all. To me, it rings of patriotism and is a reminder of all those young pilots and crew members that gave their all and never made it home.

Being in WI, I won't even be using the helmet for a few more months. By the time my riding season arrives, the helmet will be a non issue. It's a keeper (so is she :) )

Keep it, she'll get over it.

Couldn't the manufacturers think of the name of an American bomber for the helmet. Why name it after a British fighter aircraft, the Spitfire.

Leaving aside personal tastes, without wanting to change the topic of the conversation and without getting neither into personal topics nor polemics, I wonder why someone has to return the helmet to please his wife? Why not his wife asks him to keep it to please him?

In the long run, sometimes, giving up a lot of small and unsubstantiated things turns out to be a great personal dissatisfaction and I think to share happiness we have to be.

I think I'm getting in trouble. :yikes:

If a helmets graphics is a wifes biggest complaint then she doesn't really have much to complain about. She'll live, keep the helmet. The helmet is paying tribute to something in our history. What does her latest pair of ugly shoes pay tribute to? I guess I have been fortunate enough to have the best wife in the world for 44 years. She would look at it and say 'if your goofy enough to wear that then you go for it." Our son wanted a Mohawk haircut many years ago when he was around ten. I took him to get the haircut knowing the wife would kill us both. Instead we got this. "It's his head, if he wants to look like an idiot that's fine by me." Kinda took the fun out of getting the haircut :gaah:

It's just decoration, like any other graphic. You can read into it whatever you want I guess. To me, it's a tribute to an art form that gained popularity during WWII and continued well into the 70s - that of deliberately exaggerated women's body shapes.

If anything it's that misogyny some people object to these days.

I'll always be a fan of the Vargas girls myself... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alberto_Vargas
