There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. MY VERSION OF THE HEAT FIX FOR THE MASTER CYLINDER.

I got a little antsy and would like to ride before the summer turns to winter sooo, I did some research and also talked with Snoopy on the forum and installed a heat reflective insulated material on the MC (it's good for 2000 degrees and reflects 90% of the heat it exposed to) Also used some exhaust wrap on the exhaust pipe right in front of the MC. I see they added the charcoal canister to the list. My brake cable is already heat wrapped. The exhaust wrap is also good up to 2000 degrees and attaches with SS cable ties. Have some pics attached. Hopes this helps anyone attempting to do the same.:doorag:1378392860650.jpg1378481927639.jpg1378485421942.jpg1378485764569.jpgI guess once BRP has their act together and my dealer has the kit for the recall then I will make my appointment, but for now I think the heat will be diverted away and my MC was not affected by any heat so far.

I hope it works out for you, and everyone else. Seems to simple for such a serious problem.

Way to go..!!

looks like you found the way to stay on the road safe from those issues. Don't know there solution is any better. But to comply you should have their kit installed. They are also adding shielding on the evap canister..

Yes Chupaca, I saw that on the canister and added a wrap of the heat barrier around it before I put all the Tupperware back on..:doorag:

Glad you found stuff pretty quick.

I just found out about the canister, so may have to pull back apart.

W/ more time, I may look into how involved it would be to remove that part of the exhaust and properly wrap it and be done w the issue once and for all. I think it would have to be out of the bike to properly wrap the whole piece.

yeah Snoopy I have it wrapped pretty good from connector to connector (only about 6 inches of the exhaust pipe) I imagine you could wrap the connectors too but they would have to be installed to do that....:doorag:

I was thinking that that pipe travels up and out farther? Hard to see where it went when I was working from the side. The more that can be covered (of the pipe itself) the more heat can be extracted out from under the tupperware?

My only concern w wrapping some of the pipe is this, even though I would only be wrapping maybe a 12" piece of the pipe. Seems I would need someone w more brains than I to know if it would mess w jetting/fuel management?

"Exhaust wrapping is not without its risks. First, the higher exhaust exit temperatures can lean out the fuel mixture of an engine – sometimes severely. An overly lean situation can lead to rapid engine failure. Thus, wrapped pipes may necessitate either re-jetting or a change in mapping depending on your bike’s fuel management system."

Yes Snoopy I agree. That is why I only wrapped about a 6 inch piece as a spot heat barrier for the master cylinder. I've have read though that most ECM/ECU's will compensate about up to 8% for fuel and air changes. You can usually change the exhaust system and be OK or you can change the air delivery system and you will be OK but if you do both then you must add a fuel manager (Power Commander or Cobra) to keep things running smoothly. Once the recall is accomplished I will no doubt remove the heat wrap. It is only a precaution at this point. (My wife said she doesn't want her butt on fire) lol:doorag:

Okay good points.

Since I still have warranty Ill let them do what needs to be done and see how it goes.

My 2013 RT is in the shop for defective shocks. Today they called and told me that mine was officially recalled now for the overheating problem. This is the 4th recall and I have owned the bike since the end of April. They have had it almost more than me and I can't have it back until fixed BUT the parts are out of stock and back ordered and they have no idea when they will get them. Mean while I pay $400 month while it sits at the dealer. Getting fed up with BRP.
