My tips for working on Rykers!

My trick to get that Pesky Ryker air filter screw back in...

You all know the one.
The one at the bottom for the CVT air filter, the one buried under the air box.

Put in K&N air filters in the Ryker the other day - Motor side, only took a few minutes. Got to the CVT side, where all the videos say to take the bottom screw out first. Got all five screws out; changed the filter; got the four top screws back in... Then tried to get that bottom screw in. :gaah:

No matter what I did, I could not get the screw and socket on the hole at the same time! :gaah: LOL. Then I remembered the wife has some thin two-sided craft tape. I put a thin strip of d/s tape across the head of the screw, fit the socket over that so it stayed on the socket; and a minute later, all sorted, life is good! :yes:
Had a good laugh afterwards.

Tip #2 for working on Rykers - If you love to drop things...

For those people like me who love to drop things, like the belly pan of a Ryker. :gaah:
Remove the airbox, takes just a minute - Gives you all sorts of room to retrieve whatever you dropped.
Don't ask me how I learned this or how long it took me to figure it out. :duh:

You can wiggle the CVT filter out the top once you loosen the bottom screw several rounds, no need to completely remove it unless you just want to. That's what's been working best for me.

I discovered the same thing with the 8mm screws. Just Loosen the bottom enough to pull it up and out. I change the CVT filter every 3 months because it sucks in lots of stuff.
