• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My Spyder RT cover solution! Trust I won't be using anything else after using this for almost 3 years! Perfect in my opinion...

I have posted about this several times before but I think people are skeptical!

Video is worth a 1,000 words....

Enjoy,
Bob

It's been used 4 times a week for almost three years.
The fact it has lasted this long and still going.....
It's a keeper!

We have both the 1/2 and full covers from BRP for our 14 RTs.

Agree the full cover, while nice is kind of a pain, but is certainly protective.

The 1/2 cover is not bad to install, pretty easy, but honestly the way we use the machine currently, neither are used often.

If anything, the lack of use for our covers tells me the wife and I need to take the Spyder on a long weekend trip.

Cool, informative video as always Finless.

Great video Bob as usual.

I see you still have the heel/toe shifter installed. Did you just get used to it or did you wind up modifying it?

I do not use it and it is coming off when I go to install the chrome sides that hold the pegs.

The RS Outdoor Cover is $204.99 in the BRP catalog and I couldn't really find it any cheaper on ebay.

Bill C.

I bought my latest one on Ebay for like $119. So you might have to keep looking to find a deal. $209 is full retail!!!

I do not know what your looking for on Ebay but the way I found them was to search for the part number.
Search Ebay for this:
280000338

I already see several on there.
One that is used with a startiung bid of $37:

 GREAT job!! :2thumbs:
Question: Have you ever felt the desire to add a couple of straps that would anchor the sides down to the footpegs?
(Like the RT Travel cover...)

I was worried Bob when I first started using it. Out here on the Southern California coast in the afternoon we have a pretty consistent trade wind of about 15 knots sometimes 20. I have come out from the office to go home and it's flapping but has never come off!
I do park the rear end into the wind and because as you see it hooks around the license plate light and saddle bags, it stays on well. I do not know what would happen if I parked nose into the wind as I never have.

In the end, if your worried about that, using the same brass grommet set I got at Home Depot (used for putting "eyelets" in plastic tarps and comes with the tool), you could easily add a strap or whatever for hooking to the begs. Even just the "eyelets" and using a bungee cord.

Again bottom line experience says it all for me. Cannot beat 3 years of constant use and no issues :)

Ha someone caught me on the 3 years......

I have only had my 2011 RTS for 2 years!
I say three because the previous owner used the cover for a year before I got the bike. Cover was already faded when I got it. So I say 3....

Also the cover is NOT grey when you get a new one... It is BLACK!

Shows what 3 years of sun can do... Imagine 3 years of the paint sitting in the sun and what that would do!
